Abandon Ship - Abandoned Shit Weekly Contest - №.3 - Vehicles #aswcontest
Galant Lady
Named The Galant Lady, this Haitian cargo shipwreck is located right along the North Bimini island shore in the Bahamas. The crew literally had to abandon ship when the vessel became stuck in the shallows.
You can see the rusting hull of the ship, a result of the pounding sea. It shows how powerful the sea can truly be, this boat built of such hard metals and durable materials is slowly being washed away into pieces wave by wave year by year.
I heard @customnature likes GIF's so I made this one out of a video I took.

Rule #2 = Your photo must be taken by YOU.
A Little More About The Ship
I decided to do some research about this ship and found that, this small freighter sailed out of Belize City and washed up along the Bimini coast after running a ground in the shallows during Hurricane Mitch in 1997. Here is a photo I found that shows what it looked like years before my photo above.

It has since sat in this same spot along the shore, the relentless waves are slowly destroying the ship and one day it will be reduced to nothing.
Abandoned Shit Weekly
This is my entry into the #aswcontest by @customnature
The Theme:
This week's theme = VEHICLES! The photos must be of abandoned vehicles. Cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, trains, airplanes, boats, zeppelins... space ships. Whatever. Any vessel of transportation.
The Contest:
"This is NOT a photography contest. The subject matter is what's being judged with the Abandoned Shit Weekly contest, not one's skills with a camera. Honestly, I just want to see some cool abandoned shit. lol HOWEVER, as with any photograph, the "wow factor" can certainly be enhanced with a technically sound execution. Simply put, winners won't be chosen strictly on artistry."
The Rules:
Rule #1 = Your abandoned shit photo must be posted using the tag #aswcontest for one of your tags. This is crucial so that your entry can be seen/found!
Rule #2 = Your photo must be taken by YOU.
Rule #3 = Only ONE entry per user, per week. Save some content for future contests!
Rule #4 = Tell us what we're looking at! You don't have to write a novel, but let us know what the picture is of, and where you found it. That's the most interesting part! Equipment and camera settings can be included at your discretion, but is not necessary.

That GIF of the waves hitting the ship was an awesome idea! Really cool that you did that, just shows how old and abandoned it really is.

Really damn cool post dude!!
(yeah I still think its from pirates hehehe)
Abandoned boats even have more swung in it tan any other vehicle I find. Was also thinking about a boat post on this one, we have 8239832 sunken boats (approximately) from hurricane Irma a couple months ago
Damn thats crazy I live in South Florida and the Hurricane was bad but mostly only the boats in the Keys like Key West got messed up.

This is a really cool idea! i like the series as a whole - how we as humans leave our creations to decay and be taken over by the mother herself! Great images! Thanks for sharing these!
I noticed the gif on #aswcontest post after posting my entry (usually have photos blocked on my browser due to limited data) and said WOW...that looks just like the wreck in Bimini.
Visited the wreck a few times.
Nice post
awesome I only went once I snorkeled a sunken plane on a small private cruise ship island
Cool, Bimini is a fun place.
There is a sunken (I believe dc-10) inside the lagoon at Normans Cay Exumas, but not much left of it the last time we visited, i thought about posting it to the contest as it has a very good story.
That beach in Bimini has some good sea glass.
Bummer! You were selected for the Abandoned Shit Weekly Contest resteem bonus of 5 SBD, but you didn't resteem!
oh snap your right I did the first one but forgot the second
