Dukes and Duchesses of the Deserted!

Woo! Coming in late after work, but I made it. Wow. "Stairs". Another rather specific theme that had me nervous of little participation, but we had over 50 entires! Great work, fellow steemit members! Now, lets get down to the nitty gritty:

The Theme:

This week's theme was = Stairs! The abandoned subjects must have been stairs, steps, or staircases of abandoned places.

The results:

1st Place Winner - 10 SBD: @alevaskye

I couldn't justify this entry from @alevaskye NOT taking 1st. A big part of my judging is based on how badly I'd love to see the entry locations in person... and this one was in Alcatraz! That put it high on the list to begin with, but the stairs themselves are awesomely overgrown with plant life; one of my favorite things. Check out her whole post! Lots of photos and information about their trip there.
From the author: "This was for the Federal Penitentiary workers and their families living on the island to gather and mingle. In 1970 during the Indian Occupation, it was burned down during an accidental fire that also hit the Warden's Home and the Lightkeeper's Residence."

2nd Place Winner - 5 SBD: @mouthofthecreek

Love this entry. Even before I read the actual article, I could see the bit "WPA" plaque at the top of the arch, above the steps. The Works Progress Administration was put together by the US government a few years after the Great Depression in an effort to put people to work. They organization built tons of things throughout the country, like bridges, retaining walls, cabins, lots of stuff in national parks, etc. Their structures often display expert stone work, as seen here.
From the author: "This set of ruins in the community of Dry Bread looks ancient in person, with the trees and other plants growing inside."

3rd Place Winner - 2.5 SBD: @hopeabdulrahman

When it comes to cool abandoned staircases, it's hard to beat spiral ones! I would love to see this location in person.
From the author: "It was once a beautiful hall but now, it's old and abandoned reminds me of we 'humans' too...one day we'll be old and all this will end."

Honorable Mentions - 1 SBD each - In no particular order:

@karinxxl

"They look more like a water way currently to get rid of excessive water. But when I asked somebody who has been longer there, they assured me it was stairs."

@photovisions

"Near the stairs are also ruined basements of two other buildings so it could be a farm or an old turists hut of some sort."

@alfheim15

"I got this photo in one of the finest malls in Cebu. This mall left abandoned after the huge fire hit the mall"

If you use a private vehicle, you can go to Cunda area. From here, you can see the guide pointing the direction to Blang Pond. You can also travel through Krueng Geukuh or from the Kandang area. The guide to the location is clear enough, so you do not have to keep asking people.

Thanks @customnature :)
