Introduction

I have decided to start a new series called "Concepts in Astronomy". I am not an astronomer, however, I believe I can explain simple concepts in ways that everybody may understand. I will welcome real astronomers to comment, suggest amendments and enhance my posts with their input.

Each of my posts will be short, to the point and will be restricted to a single topic. Several topics may be derived from one single post and I will use web links in order to connect them.

I have chosen this area of science because I have always loved it and because I do have an understanding of it. I believe that astronomy is key to understand our position and our magnitude in the Universe.
