AskSteemit: How much Steem does your rent cost?

in #asksteemit6 years ago

We've seen a lot of posts lately saying "it costs this and this much to mine Bitcoin in these countries", assuming that people are paying their electricity costs with the coins they mine.

Considering the variety in users we have here who may have been "living off of Steem" and hopefully learned a lesson about these markets. I thought it would be interesting to see what it costs everyone living everywhere in the world to pay their rent in Steem right now. How much of the reward pool could theoretically help Steemians out with that?

Maybe we could have some nice discussions about it in the comment section. :)

Honestly I don't make enough money(from steem) to eat lol
Good thing I don't depend of steem to live...
Just doing this bc I bored and more of fun. Kinda getting boring with less people here but what can you do :P

join actifit get some exercise

I've delegated some to them from my alt, it's great to be able to invest in future dapps with delegation/voting power. Can't wait until more people learn about this feature, but of course the people that are gone now will come back and be all like "wtf unfair they got in early" into the dapps.

Then again once they do come back it would probably be on the hype of a next ATH which would mean a lot more dapps would be starting on the chain again giving them a chance to "be early" again. :)

I totally agree with you @acidyo. I have delegated to Dstors and looking at Partiko next. Great stuff coming out and already out :)

I like the idea of Actifit bc it reminds of of the failed Bitwalk app project. When I search up get paid to walk, Actifit is no where near so we still have a long way to go

I'm going to stick to the history of my life. I haven't been involved in anything of importance that has failed -yet! Everything iI have put my heart into has just taken longer to succeed then i initially had hoped for;)

I may sound stupid, but how investing/delegating to dapps right now will give an advantage of “early adopters”? @acidyo

....and round and round go the ages, spiraling ever upwards :)

The people who are here "just for fun" will be the ones coming up with the best ideas. ;)

2,954.

I never thought I would see my monthly rent costing that much Steem.

That really sucks.

Well I'm grinding at my restaurant seven days a week. It's busy during the Christmas season, but it's not any fun because instead of being in a holiday spirit most people are just broke and not very willing to part with their money even if you do a good job serving them.

I was really hoping my fiction-writing would take off to the point where I would no longer need to work at this restaurant. At the beginning of the year it really seemed like that was going to happen.

I still have faith in the system though.

Holding.

Considering that if prices go 10x to 2 dollars, that amount required is 300 instead, it isn't looking too bad for the future as your vote value increases and on top of post earnings, you will also have decent curation earning some liquids too. At 40x where it was in January, you need 75 SP a month for rent. All things remaining constant, that means you can live for 153 month (12.5 years) rent free :D

Here's hoping.

One thing I've learned is that most dapps and authors should try and get views and "business" from outside the platform and not just rely on the users here for times like these.

Yeah that's something I've been giving thought to lately. I think I'm going to start publishing chapters on WordPress and publish them here using Steempress.

I have mortgage and body corporate costs on my apartment which is combined to be the 'rent'. So at current prices, ~5700 Steem per month.

It is going to be a little while before I can live off Steem considering on top of that comes food, fuel, utility costs, phones... and a lot of medical expenses for our daughter.

Yeah, might need a couple more cycles and shakeouts.

Emmm according to current situations of steem

My rent is about 585 steem
Other bills around 200 steem

Though i have never ever withdrawn a single steem i have lot of hopes from Steem

Well i have turned off my antminer too around 250 days ago

Posted using Partiko iOS

7,909 Steem just for rent in San Francisco. This is not including any utilities or expenses. So I'm a long ways from Steem being any real support currently and that's why my hopes are on the future :)

If I powered down all my SP it currently wouldn't even cover one month of rent and I'm a dolphin, lol.

8100 Steem just for the rent. Painful looking at current price of steem.

This is why I never expected to make a living from this platform. I simply was hoping to make another revue source over the long run. With the goal of holding the major of it till it made more sense to start paying myself more out of it. As when the price skyrockets the less steem I expect I would be able to make each week.

As such I just thought It would be a fun way to make a little bit and maybe forget about it one day finding out like 20 years later I could pay off some bill and get a nice vacation or some other stuff from my efforts when I was younger.

The short term withdrawl goal was simply to make enough to cover my hobby of gaming (buying games, internet cost, and computer part upgrades/replacement portions of it). This at this point is quite the pipe dream at the current state of things. Assuming that to be now 10,800 Steem per year. Bulk of that is the internet bill.

If I was trying to live off Steem and assume I been active all for 20 full months and held 1,601 steem to recover the costs at a later date. The price point would have to be $41.63 per Steem at this time. Don’t even want think in terms of how much Steem at current price that be. Which I guess still works for those crazy moon people dreaming of $100 steem.

I don't pay rent, but if I had to it would require around 920 STEEM (rent + electricity) per month at current market price.

For STEEM at $1.00 (approximately R$4,00) I will need 500 STEEM to pay my rent.

Ouch. I calculated this with 0,192 STEEM, price in euros since I only know my rent in euro's, taken from Coinmarketcap just now.

750 is 'basic rent': 3906 STEEM
930 is including an unavoidable fee I pay for heating and such: 4844 STEEM.

Ehmmm... If I power down my account, in 13 weeks I can pay one month rent plus a week of groceries :') Took me only a year to get there :P

Donations are welcome, I suddenly don't feel all that wealthy anymore :')

Haha, I remember this exact feeling on the "all time low" last year. Not a great feeling knowing that some bigger accounts here on the platform buy that amount up at these prices every hour. Yet people keep selling, why would they stop pressuring the price down and buying up cheap coins if there is a lot of volume still being sold. :D

1050 Steem right now...But the flat is mine...so techically not a rent:D

So you're earning 1050 Steem right now without knowing! :P

I wish bud:D i wish
