Painting a mural about the fire department.

I recently posted a photo of this small mural finished, then found this photo in my computer.

The mural is entitled "Fire and Ice" and was a commission by the fire department of a town in Illinois. I visited their building and firetrucks and was amazed at the quality of their equipment. Of course they wanted all this in their mural, which made my job a bit complicated. Luckily I had a great assistant, Dante di Bartolo, who loved painting trucks.

The mural is painted in acrylic on canvas and was installed in the entrance foyer of the fire department building.
Here is the finished mural:

wow the size of this is something impressive

Actually, for me it is a small mural. I have painted entire facades of buildings. Also worked in theater and tv decor for 14 years. But now I am happy to explore composition and color on my small canvases.

And which ones satisfies you more? Larger projects or smaller pieces?

Before, I liked the challenge of the monumental work: the planning, the organizing, seeing it in a public place. But now I prefer the more subtle and experimental challenge of easel painting. However if a really interesting job came along, I would take it.
I paid into a retirement plan and now receive a pension. I greatly enjoy the freedom of doing whatever I want, whenever I want. I have never known this freedom before, and revel in it.

That's awesome. I for sure enjoy larger more, maybe because I am still young and that sense of maximalism is there. Everything needs to be as expressive as possible

Your use of hot and cold colours in this is so evocative and really helps tell the story of the danger and resolution of these brave people.

Thank you @donnadavisart, the firemen really love their work and take great pride in it. We are lucky to have them.
