This is a collage I made at the Botticelli exhibition at Gemäldegalerie Berlin. The exhibition took place from 24.09.2015 to 24.01.2016. When I went there I did not go straight to see the pictures. Even though I usually call Botticelli my favourite artist. First I had a long talk with a artist who sold his t-shirt artwork in front of the gallery. He showed me examples of how the hand gestures of Botticelli figures return again and again in art history until today. When I came into the building I was asked to give the securities my bottle of water and I asked them to keep it for me so I could get it back later. I was surprised that they actually gave it back to me. The next thing I discovered was a table with a lots of paper material to create an own Botticelli collage. Of course I was totally going for it! Sorry, for the bad quality of the photography. The original work is in some drawing diary in my cellar. I will post a picture next time I`ll find it.

Das ist eine Collage die ich auf der Botticelli Ausstellung in der Gemäldegalerie Berlin gemacht habe. Die Ausstellung war vom 24.09.2015 bis 24.01.2016. Als ich zur Ausstellung ging bin ich nicht direkt hineingegangen um mir die Bilder anzuschauen. Obwohl ich Botticelli für gewöhnlich meinen Lieblingsmaler nenne. Erst hatte ich ein langes Gespräch mit einem Künstler, der seine T-Shirts vor der Galerie verkauft hat. Er zeigte mir Beispiele dafür, dass die Handgesten von Botticellis Figuren immer wieder in der Kunstgeschichte aufgegriffen wurden und bis heute werden. Als ich in das Gebäude kam wurde ich aufgefordert den Securities meine Wasserflasche zu geben und ich bat sie diese für mich aufzubewahren damit ich sie später wieder holen könnte. Ich war sehr überrascht, dass sie sie mir tatsächlich zurückgegeben haben. Als nächstes entdeckte ich einen Tisch mit allerlei Papiermaterial um eigene Botticelli Collagen zu basteln. Natürlich war ich gleich Feuer und Flamme! Entschuldigt die schlechte Qualität des Bildes. Die orginale Arbeit ist (fertig gestellt) in irgendeinem meiner Maltagebücher im Keller. Wenn ich es mal wieder zu Gesicht bekomme poste ich es.

The exhibition was great too. It did not only contain some original works of Botticelli but also a lot of works he inspired. The most famous one is maybe the “Venus” of Andy Warhol but there were a lot of amazing pieces. I can totally understand that for I have been inspired to various artworks by Botticelli and btw. Dalì too. The gallery I described in my last post holds amongst a lot of others a drawing of “La Primavera” by DalÌ. And here is a wall drawing I made in one of my flats in Berlin. There is leaves on the sealing because we decorated the room with some branches and lots of lights for the birthday of a friend.

Die Ausstellung war ebenfalls sehr toll. Sie umfasste nicht nur originale Arbeiten von Botticelli sondern auch viele Kunstwerke, die er inspiriert hat. Das Bekannteste davon ist vielleicht die „Venus“ von Andy Warhol aber es gab noch viele andere fantastische Werke. Ich kann das auch voll und ganz nachvollziehen, da mich die Kunst von Botticelli schon oft inspiriert hat, und btw. Dalí ebenfalls. In der Galerie, die ich in meinem letzten Post beschrieben habe, gibt es unter anderem auch eine Zeichnung von „La Primavera“ von Dali. Und hier ist ein Bild, das ich in einer meiner ehemaligen Berliner Wohnungen auf die Raufasertapete gemalt habe. Die Blätter auf dem Bild kommen daher, dass wir den Raum für die Geburtstagsfeier eines Freundes mit einigen Ästen und vielen Lichtern geschmückt hatten.
