If you are interested in contemporary art I recommend you to visit the "Boros Collection" in Berlin. You have to book the group tour online on the website of the gallery before.

The place has an interesting history. 1942 it was buildt to be a world war II bunker. After the war it was used as a textile warehouse. At the time of the DDR it was a food storage called "banana bunker". In the 90s it was the place to go for a techno rave. In 2003 it was purchaised by the art collector couple Boros. There was a lot of rennovation and other work to do until the gallery was ready for the first exhibition in 2008. I went to see the second exhibtion twice. The first time while studying architecture at TU Berlin. We met the architect too and he told us how hard it was to break trough the massive roof of steel beton to buildt the Boros' Penthouse on top of the bunker.

Der Ort hat eeine interessante Geschichte. 1942 wurde er als Luftschutzbunker für den Zweiten Weltkrieg gebaut. Danach wurde er als Textilwarenhaus verwendet. In der DDR war er unter dem Namen "Banana Bunker" bekannt, weil er als Lebensmittellager verwendet wurde. In den 90er Jahren war der Bunker als härtester Techno Club bekannt. 2003 wurde er vom Kunstsammlerpaar Boros erstanden. Nach vielen Rennovierungsarbeiten wurde 2008 die erste Austellung für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. Ich selbst habe die zweite Austellung der Sammlung Boros zwei mal gesehen. Beim ersten Mal, als ich Architektur an der TU Berlin studiert habe. Wir haben den Architekten, der für den Umbau verantwortlich war kennengelernt und er hat uns erzählt wie schwierig es war einen Durchbruch durch das massive Stahlbetondach zu machen um das Boros Penthaus darauf zu bauen.

Das ist eine Zeichnung von einem Kunstwerk, das ich in der Gallery gesehen habe.
Es zeigt Kate Moss nach einer langen Nacht, wie sie einen Broccoli in der Hand hält.
Der Künstler, der das Foto gemacht hat ist Wolfgang Tillmans. Ich mag es sehr.
Meine Zeichnung ist bestimmt nicht perfect aber es hält die Erinnnerung frisch.

At the moment they are preparing a new exhibtion in the bunker and I am thinking of going there as soon as it is released. What do you think? Are you interested to visit too? Let me know. Maybe we can arrange a group. The new exhibition will start at 4th of May.

Im Moment ist die Gallerie geschlossen, weil eine neue Ausstellung im Bunker vorbereitet wird. Ich denke darüber nach hinzugehen, wenn sie aufmacht. Seid ihr auch an einem Besuch interessiert?
