Thai performances are not just crazy beautiful but dang funny!
After showing you all these atmostphere of Klong Bang Luang (คลองบางหลวง), my favourite chill spot in Bangkok, and a beautiful bowl of Chinese style noodle by the canal, now let's talk about this beautiful Thai performance that I actually have just had a chance to see it first time when I went to visit the area.
The Artist House!
The Artist House or Baan Silapin (บ้านศิลปิน)
A lot of people know about this canal because of the famous 'Artist House' where they perform some Thai puppet shows and also have the art gallery for you to go absorb some Thai art..
I went there basically just to get some footages for my videos about The Artist House. Turned out, I love the whole freakin' area!! LOLOL
If you'd like to check out the video, here it is! If you like, please don't forget to give it some love and subscribe to my channel ! :)
The farm of happiness..
Look at the wooden sign, They play with the word in Thai. It's supposed to be 'Happiness' but they changed the word a bit (but still pronouce pretty much the same) so now it means 'The farm of happiness'
In front of the Artist houst have these two statues of the red and white uncles sitting and chilling there by a canal.. Not sure why exactly but people love to take photos with them so much.. Like, I mean, look at my photos here.. I got some also! LOLOL
Thai Puppet show
Sooooo Amazing to see how they control the puppet. It's like, to lift the puppet's left foot, then the performer will also have to lift their left foot as well. So hard to explain their movement but really, it's sure beautiful and breath-taking! Watch the video so you know.
Thai puppetry, known as hun lakhon lek, is an ancient art form similar to Japanese buruku puppetry. Each puppet, usually just under a meter long (3.2 feet), is controlled by three people with a rope and pulley system, which help make the puppet look as if it is gracefully dancing on stage. The shows are usually accompanied by both music and a narrator who normally tells a story derived from the Ramakien, the Thai version of the Hindu Ramayana. - The culture trip -
Oh! by saying that it's not just beautiful but dang funny! Not sure about other places but here at The Artist Houst at Klong Bang Luang (คลองบางหลวง), they're so friendly and sure make audiences feel like home.
Some even got dragged to perform with them, like, this foreigner from Switzerland. It's funny to see such a tall person try to do this.. Look at the photo and maybe you'll know why :D
Besides the puppet(s), they have the real human (pretend to be a Thai style giant) show.. The clothing are real fancy, look at the following photo. It's authentice Thai outfit for this type of performance..
The show must go on..
After the show of each one of them pass, they combine both of the puppet and the real human performance.. Fighting! Guess, who won?? LOL Either way, the show must go on :D
The atmosphere of the place when the show was on.. Oh my, I so love how the place looks. It's wooden and so classic! Even the seats, not the most comfortable ones but you know..
I fell in love with Hanuman!
After the show's done. Believe me, not just me that fell in love with this little! He's so cute and playful..
If you like to go experience this amazingly amazing show (Yes, it's that amazin LOLOL). It's free and everyone is welcome!
Every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday at 2 pm!
Everyone left but I was still having fun taking the photos of all stuff in the Artist House.. Some of them I really can't explain what, why, when, where but let me do with some of them than I can.
This photo and flowers and some water.. It's the way they show some respect to people who started this exact type of show.
This as you can seem it's the mask that the puppet controller wears and in the middle is the face of Hanuman.
Art Gallery
On the second floor of the Artist House is an art gallery (Plus+ A lot more of Thai style masks) and has such a great view of the canal through the big window. It would be so great just to go sit and chill. :D
There! Me chilling in front of the place just right by the canal you seeeee! Too bad there's no coffee sold the day I went and the canal water was not really drinkable so.. LOLOL
Lots of lots of love,
Mo ❤
