RISKS OF WORDS SKETCH SERIES (1)

In today's post I'll be showing the first sketches from an ongoing series of sketches that was started some years ago, the intention with this series of sketches was to visually try to alert the viewer to the dangers of the loss of freedom, mainly of expression within our society, and thus also to alert for the overall loss of liberty that humanity was and is currently facing!

In this series I've tried to express in a graphic way some of the most dire problems, identified by my observations and interpretations of the past and current human civilization, it's cultures and interactions, now as initially it was my understanding that this problems were related to a lack of freedom, my focus here was related to free speech, which lead me to conceive this idea of representing words or phrases associated with images that would complement each other in the representation of the theme to be present in the sketch, so to me was already clear a few years ago that censorship was coming fast to the world, and for that reason the title off the series was "risks of words", this title has to me a double meaning , signifying first the idea of "words" in danger of disappearing from the dialogue and as a consequence the concepts they convey are erased from the human mind, secondly then was the literal idea that drawing this "forbidden" words would be a risky business and also the act itself would be risky, (in Portuguese my original language the word "risk" (risco) can change meaning depending on the context it can signify "in danger" (em risco) and when applied to the act of drawing it signifies scratching from the verb to scratch (riscar),hope you can realize the pun!

The idea here was to represent the inability for the majority of the general people to see the scheme created by the ruling class to keep them bound to a system that deceives and rules by spreading chaos and confusion, there is also a desire here to draw attention to some events, most specially the 9-11 , to question this events, and by doing so to relinquish the power to oppose the narrow minding narrative of those who want to rule.

"POINTS OF VIEW"

In this sketch i try to convey the idea that most people are locked in the way they view the outside world, so they acquire a "square" point of view one that prevents them from looking outside the boundaries of comfort, one that prevents them from question the ongoing narrative of the "reality", let alone search for clues to look from another point of view one set in the outside of this "square".

" CASTLES IN THE SAND "

For this one the idea i wanted to represent was that the dogmatic institutions are functioning like rulers of the will of the masses, they decide what is wrong and what is right, they sit there on the top in their monolithic "castles" which by their turn "casts shadows" over the people, obfuscating and darkening their views of the others and the world around them. People are yet unaware that this castles are like those built by the infants in the sand on the beach, they only cast shadows while they last, and it only takes a small wave to make them crumble.

" TO THE MACHINE "

In this one I try to convey the idea that when people connect by way of the digital machine, this renders diminishing emotions and thus deforms the perception of the human connecting to the other, so people lose the empathy to others, this behavior then becomes normal when out in the real world, this idea can also be applied to the capacity to think, or to do other tasks we used to do without the use of machines, and so there comes a time when the machines take care of all those actions, people are then are so accustomed to trust the machine to do all this actions and connections, that they become literally lost to the machine.

All this sketches were presented independently in previous posts but the concept ideas behind the series and for each one of them were not given back then, so with the events taking place recently, namely the censorship of the alternative media in the social network's, I think it's a good time to repost them, now in full context, and so here are the first 4, more will hopefully follow.

As an additional note i would like to say that without all the information presented by all the alternative media and all the different people sharing content on the net, all this works would had probably never been created, because wile my view off the system had for long been drawn in my mind, the will to express it this way and the intention to share it here on teemit, was somehow influenced by the information they shared, so here is my humble thank you to all of you guys and girls out there sharing information pertinent to the shift in the human perception of reality, keep up the good work!
