Delphine... work in progress

in #art7 years ago

Keeping my promise to make more art this year, I have started on a new piece.

This time, not a warrior, but a more feminine creature. I'm not one to work with sketches. I usually have a general idea of what I want to make and just start building up the wireframe of the sculpture. Gradually it evolves. It's more like making things up as I go along. Luckily (knock on wood) it has always turned out ok.

So, after 3 days of work, I got to this stage:

Off-shoulder dresses are all the rage this year at the Asylum, so Delphine is showing off.

I've got quite a way to go with this one, but I'm hoping to have her ready by the middle of next week, when I can show you the end result.

Hope you enjoyed this little update.

Very nice posture but you forgot your promise to leave Steemit :-) Resteemed

I'm still not sold on this thing, but willing to give it another try. 😉

Good to see you came back. I had noted your absence. There must be something to this platform if Peter, Reinhard and Otto are sticking around. ;-)

Well, apparently you can't leave, delete it correct anything, so... And besides, they say there's gold in them hills out there. ;)

And just like the gold miners of old, you have to persist. It didn't click for me immediately either.

I just resteemed something that made a lot of sense - but it is in German. You would have to open it in Google Translate or similar:

Oh, I do understand it, Otto. I don't need a translator. The truth of the matter is that I just don't have the time to delve into this. ;)

@afrog pointed me in the direction of SteemWiki in a comment on the post about Visionary Artists on Steemit - my post is "enshrined" here.
So if you have any questions at all, I am sure you will find the answers at SteemWiki

Wow, can't wait to see her finished, she seems to be a real beauty ^_^

It is great to see the structural development of your sculpture - I am looking forward to see it finished.
Welding was one of my jobs at the CP Rail Mechanical Department (in Canada), but rarely (if ever) did I think to use it artistically. I was too busy painting, but it always intrigued me.
The odd time, on the night shift when there were no supervisors watching, we would weld some scrap together to make something useful, like candlesticks and sometimes some whimsical garden sculpture. Once I helped a colleague put together a garden gate out of rebar and old plow shares, resembling a dragon, once it was finished.
Another time, we cut up a test plate, removing the plate and just leaving the bead, then we glued plywood plates on it, made a few burn splatters, and called it: "We weld anything, even wood".

Nice work, looks, you are very creativ and talented.

Is your workshop connected to your house or do you have to travel to work?

I have a gruesome 75 meter commute down the street to work each day.

OK, I was wondering about the noise you must make and why your neighbours hadn't lynched you yet. =)

I have hammers and a bunch of sharp and pointy tools. I also have a nail gun that can shoot through a brick wall.

Let them try.

Sounds like some fun toys you have in the workshop. =)

I love the nail gun part. They are awesome!

No sé como terminará pero a mí, por ahora, me trae reminiscencias del "hombre de la máscara de hierro".
