Street Art in El Diamante Del Norte (The Diamond of the North)

As some of you may know, a couple weeks ago I had gotten word of being laid off for a week and so I decided to take my family for a little trip to the tropics away from the cold New York days... We flew to Puerto Rico to help however we could and visit some friends.

Art in the streets of Arecibo Pueblo

I'm not sure why but people have been leaving this town for a long time. My friend was telling me how it used to be so vibrant and full of life but now...

Obviously the light pole is like that from the hurricane, but the street were mostly empty like this one, and buildings... abandoned

Aside from a few little shops by the main plaza, the life and vibrant side of town is found on it's desolate walls...

There's a lot of really powerful stuff here

Wow, what an incredible experience to see all of this art in the midst of so much chaos. The colors are absolutely spectacular...and the photo quality is stunning. Resteemed, upvoted, full package. :)

There is always a fine tune that can be made from a broken string. The beautiful art paintings right in the midst of the chaos. It's good to see but sad also to see people leave their homes for safety elsewhere. This place breathes promise, they just need help.

Fantastic photos. I could never get tired of looking at graffiti. It is hard to paint a face without expression, no matter how naiive the artist. Here, in these photos, there is so much expression and yearning. Lets celebrate voices wanting to be heard.
