The 3 most known paintings of Leonardo da Vinci - how they present themselves in museums?
Number 1
Mona Lisa
Painting
Below, the most expensive painting in the world. In the year 1962/63, its value was assessed by an insurance company at 100 million USD. Adjusted to the inflation by US Consumer Price Index, it made around $782 million in 2015. This painting is a worldwide recognized symbol, it was very often used as a motive in movies - e.g. Equilibrium. It was even stolen once - in the year 1911. After multiple attacks, Louvre decided to hide it behind a bulletproof glass.
Sightseeing in a museum
Mona Lisa is currently located in the Louvre Palace in Paris. I had a pleasure of visiting Louvre museum on 18th of June previous year. Museum itself is crowded enough, but the exhibition hall where the painting is located, is really really crowded - mostly with people trying to do a selfie. Below are pictures I took during a Sunday visit to Louvre. I always wanted to see the picture "live" by myself, but as you can see, it's quite difficult to even get close to it.

Salvator Mundi
Painting
The history behind this painting is crazy interesting. Sir Francis Cook, 4th Baronet, sold it at auction in 1958 for £45, as a work by Leonardo's pupil Giovanni Antonio Boltraffio. The painting remained attributed to Boltraffio until 2011. In 2005, the painting was acquired for less than $10,000 (€8,450) at an auction in New Orleans by a consortium of art dealers. In May 2013, the Swiss dealer Yves Bouvier purchased the painting for just over US$75 million.

Salvator Mundi is currently in private hands (after it got sold for $450.3 million in November 2017), but it will be displayed soon in the newly opened Louvre Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).

Number 3
Lady with an Ermine
Lady with an Ermine (Italian: "Dama con l'ermellino", Polish: "Dama z gronostajem") was painted by Leonardo somewhere between 1489–1490. It's one of Poland's national treasures. The subject of the portrait is Cecilia Gallerani, painted at a time when she was the mistress of Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan, and Leonardo was in the service of the duke.

Sightseeing in a museum
Painting is currently presented in the National Museum in Cracow (Poland). It's shown in a spacy dark room and it's under protection by curators and security. There is no glass in front of it, but taking photos is forbidden. It's more easy to admire it, as there are much less people in queue to see it, and it's possible to stand quite close to it.
