Altar of the Fatherland in Rome (Italy, 2017)

in #photography6 years ago

There is a building, in the center of Rome, which is very impressing and grandiloquent. It's honoring Italy's first king and WW1 soldiers. It's called 'Altar of the Fatherland' - in Italian Altare della Patria. It's visible from distance and located between the Trajan Forum and the Capitoline Museums. Its architectural style is "neoclassical with eclectic influences".

This landmark is always full of tourists. During summer, monument provides refreshing and cool feeling due to lower temperature of the stone floors. It's possible to sit down under the corinthian columns and enjoy views - it's a good spot to admire the Rome.

Monument was opened in the year 1925 and it's 230' high. You can find there many granite and bronze/copper smaller sculptures. There are also some museums - e.g. Museum of Italian Unification.

Perfect place for photographing patterns.

All photos are my own, I had the pleasure of visiting Italy in August 2017. Because I've already been to Verona, Venice and Rome, Sicily and southern Italy is my next goal.
