Trip to Madame Tussauds in London

Madame Tussauds has locations around the world where wax models of famous people are on display. You are welcome to pretend like they are your friends while taking selfies like some kind of weirdo.

A few years back while in the UK, we came to the conclusion that it was time for us to be those weirdos, so we headed to London to get our creep on.

As you can see, we started off with a visit to the royal family. They kind of just pretended that Amanda was not even there. Kind of rude if you ask me.

I haven't really researched it, so I don't know why some of the figures look amazing and others look like really bad horror props. The Dalai Lama looks especially bad, as you can see.

One of the things that I think would help the realism is if they weren't so shiny. They are incredibly reflective which immediately gives away that they aren't real.

That being said, I slightly bumped into several of them and said excuse me, so they can't be that bad!

I am so glad that I got the opportunity to hang out with Robin Williams. What a great guy!

Above, you can see me questioning ol' Nick Cage about his mysterious hair regrowth.

One of the great things about this trip was the satisfaction of receiving so much praise from Jim Carrey. I had this guy laughing so hard it was nuts.

Of course, this guy was there but he couldn't even stop riding to take a photo. Drugs are a bad thing.

I'm not sure why we both decided to point at the object that Newton was holding. I suppose it was the smartest that we were going to look while in his presence.

But I was really starting to fall off of the rooms intelligence curve as I carried on.

Amanda was clearly impressing the big wigs as well.

If you've been following my blog, you know that my current hair length is just about touching the bottom of my back - I'll let you guess how long ago these photos were taken!

I totally would have gotten a date if Amanda weren't there.... to remind me that they weren't real.

I love how no matter how hard you try, the wax figures rarely appear to be interacting with you in the photos. Every once in a while you get lucky, but usually they just look like they are tolerating your presence. I suppose this just adds to the realism.

I really wasn't that impressed with this Will Smith. Something is really off about it.

I was really starting to feel (and look) like an idiot after saying excuse me to the above girl several times. I kept bumping into her in a crowd of real people taking photos. People were really starting to laugh at me.

Upon reflection, I've discovered that I am a really cheesy looking dude when trying to pose.

Amanda, on the other hand is quite the natural. It's like the real Shrek is here with us!

I don't know, I'm not convinced that she's scared.

Is it just me, or does that wax woman look stunned? Maybe she was caught off guard when they waxed her.

Dubya is a total master at pretending that I'm not there. He is so amazing under pressure.

Now that I am looking back at these pictures, the shininess on the wax figures could also be interpreted as the celebrities sweating profusely. Hey, you would sweat too if you were forced to stand perfectly still in a museum all day.

Sir Patrick Stewart was super polite. He let me go on talking at him for almost an hour and never interrupted me. Such a gentleman!

Something was definitely wrong with Tom Cruise. That man never stands still for that long. Very suspicious indeed.

Even good ol' honest Abe was there. Such an honor to meet you, sir!

Susan Sarandon looked fantastic. All I could think about is the line spoken by Gary in the movie "Team America":

Your skills are fading with age, Ms. Sarandon.

I don't know what was going on with The Rock, but to me he looked like his face was going to melt off.

To be sure, we had a lot of fun that day. As I said, the figures were hit and miss. Some very bad, while others were incredibly good. I have also been to the Madame Tussauds in Hollywood, but I think the London one is a lot better. You can judge for yourself!

Sort:

Cool stuff. You two fit in nicely 😋😁

Btw, is that Robert Plant where Amanda is signaling the devils horn's ??

And are you flipping the bird at W or trying to pick his nose lol :)

Haha... I was trying to wind W up, but it wasn't working. Maybe picking his nose would have gotten his attention. And yep, that's Robert Plant.

Back in 96' me and my buddy Felipe used to watch him speak when he was governor of Texas.. We lived a few blocks from the capital building so we'd go walking around there a lot. He came out super drunk more than once and gave speeches. It would be so funny! He would give the nuttiest responses. In hindsight though, he was way smarter than Trump, which is super scary.

you should just cover yourselves with a nice sheet of oil, that way you would be just as glossy as the statues. I bet that was a lot of fun. Good photo ops there fo' sho'

I've always wanted to have a nice glossy finish. Good idea!

One of the things that I think would help the realism is if they weren't so shiny.

I would have thought they were sweating.

This is such a wonderful place and thank God such a place exist were I come from. It would have been an avenue for scammers to exploit. Imagine your favourite online fraudster standing beside Queen Lizzy you will probably end up giving him or her your entire life's savings

Yeah later on in the post I actually mention that:

Now that I am looking back at these pictures, the shininess on the wax figures could also be interpreted as the celebrities sweating profusely.

Yeah haha.. You could do some fake kidnapping videos with these!

Lol planting ideas into my mind.

Quite a display. You two are natural hams :-)

I do eat a lot of bacon...

Haha nice! I’ve been here before, it’s a good day out for sure!
It’s kibda strange, as you said, some are realistic and some look scary! I wouldn’t want to be there alone that’s for sure! Imagine ending up there at night alone with only a torch... actually don’t that’s quite horrifying haha.

Cool to hear that your hair is super long now, mine is too! I was debating getting it cut recently but it’s just taken so much time and dedication to grow to this length!

I know, the time it took to grow it is what keeps me from cutting it. Even though I find it really annoying and in my way most of the time! Plus it makes me hot.

haha, yeah, it's like that Night at the Museum movie. Imagine all of them coming to life at night time.

Yea man it makes me hot too... especially at night. I hate it being in my face but I just know I have to hold onto it for a while as once I cut it I will probably never grow it this long again!

Haha yea! Night at the museum was an awesome movie!

There is a wax museum also in my country, the statues there all look funny and way off from the people they are based on.
But in your place they look astounding if not for thaose glossy look LOL @nuthman

@nuthman Very good article, all very well explained nice… i really like your blog
