Quick etude pastel "Sunset over the Volga"
Such sketch can be done in 5-10 minutes.
I painted it from nature with an ordinary dry pastel. It's good that this material retains bright colors.

hmm it seem quick and simple but something special about it. it looks an old painting.
Because there is the right composition. Indeed, old paintings have an effect of the theater scene with a curtain on the sides. Here the composition is similar, therefore it is associated with the style of old paintings.

Видно, что не очень крупный рисунок, но сделан красиво. А я пастелью теперь всё больше на тонированном картоне рисую
А5 примерно размер. Интересно, что раньше я его не считала хорошим, а сейчас увидела - вполне себе набросок симпатичный )
Вот кстати, да. Многие работы свои тоже со временем совсем по другому оцениваю.
