A Piece of Watercolor that is No More
I'm awful at keeping my own works. I am still learning how to use watercolors and I mean the very basics. My background is photography. So my habit is to scrap all that's not good enough. And this one... Was not good enough for me in only one way. I did not like the way those rocks or stones upon the turtle shell looked. So I started working on them some more. And then some more. But in an impatient way and I spoiled them. I made them huge and ugly and dark and there is no going back from that that I know of in watercolor. So I grew even more impatient and I scrapped the piece of paper, after first giving the back of it some chance but impatiently painting it bad from the start.
I enjoy watercolors in general and there's one thing I know I need and sometimes I lack. It's patience. When impatient, you just destroy it. Like I did with this one. This photo is from the stage before I tried "fixing" it. I know there are a lot of mistakes and you telling me more of them will be of great help. But also there were parts that I liked a lot.

I like it, it is not so dark as you say:) patience is important in arts, i learned how to use it to my advantage therought the process of making my collages:)

I have my patience with other stuff. Like shooting. But when I am drawing I am in a hurry because I am not yet confident I will get a good result. So it's a magic trap of a kind, I guess. But I will learn, eventually.
This one is not so dark but what followed before I scrapped it...
I totally understand your feelings. Watercolour is very difficult to control and once it goes wayside, it's almost impossible to bring things back / correct them. But I kinda like this piece, I think you did the sea and the sun really well, even though the pillar in the middle is quite dark.
There is ONE thing that you can do with watercolours, though!

Right, that's the best thing. Working on other stuff and then I will finish some more. But also painting my walls at home is at hand. Won't be watercolor :(

I like how you use colors on the subject and the background . You separated them visually but you also connects them with elements of it!
