And usually I'd say, "The books were way better!" .. But this is one of the few times I can honestly say I enjoyed the film adaption just as much, even with the changes made later on. Although, the most recent season was kinda weak, I thought....
The only other exception to my "The books are better" rule is with The Lord of the Rings. While the movies weren't better than the books, they impressed me greatly. (Which reminds me: I intend to do another orb, sometime, of a palantir ;) ...)
Still, though: If I know a book exists, my rule is always to read it first. How about you?

“Oh, my sweet summer child," Old Nan said quietly,
"what do you know of fear? Fear is for the winter, my little lord,
when the snows fall a hundred feet deep and the ice wind
comes howling out of the north. Fear is for the long night,
when the sun hides its face for years at a time, and little children
are born and live and die all in darkness while the direwolves
grow gaunt and hungry, and the white walkers
move through the woods”

Looks like a fractal made in JWildfire! Looks awesome. I have never read or watched Game of Thrones, but I most definitely agree with the Lord of the Rings (not the Hobbit though, I disliked the movie adaptation of the Hobbit) series. My only minor gripe was that Shelob appears in the Two Towers and not Return of the King. Another exception I have found was Fight Club. I love how Chuck Palahniuk writes, and the movie adaptations are on point. I appreciate the time you take to fully appreciate art!!! I myself am not always good about reading the books first. I did read LOTR first, but I saw Fight Club before I read the book (or even knew it was a book!) Awesome post, I'll definitely be back regularly to see what else you're up to!
Yep, 100% correct =) JWildFire is the program.
I can't say I disliked The Hobbit movies but they certainly weren't nearly as good as the LOTR ones.
I remember having that same gripe! And the fact that they left sooo much out (which of course was absolutely necessary and understandable.). Did you know Jackson meant to only make one movie and New Line cinema said "Hey, there are three books, right? So make three movies." .. Can you imagine trying to make LOTR in ONE movie .. O.O ... Hehe
I'm about to post another piece of art - from my Fine Art gallery. Watch this space =)
I will! I didn't know they originally intended to release LOTR as one movie. Interesting! They should've done Hobbit in one movie based on the same logic.
That is some awesome art there. I really like it. It is worthy of an upvote of its own accord. I am also upvoting it in keeping with my promise since I used one of your suggested Chrome extensions in my recent post. Keep up the awesome work! -@bozz
Thank you very much =) .. I'll be posting another one today, this time from my Fine Art gallery.
