"Heart-thawing Ice" - Poems, 003
And here is the first love poem of many... It was written at the same time, more or less, as "Sharpest Edge", and I had nobody specific in mind when I wrote it.
I've been an idealist for most of my life. I almost wrote "all my life" there but I believe that in the last few years, I've had a healthy dose of reality splashed in my face, and I'm happy to say that I've now got my feet a little more solidly on the ground.
Anyway, the idealism shows quite strongly here, in the form of meeting one's soulmate by random chance and knowing it immediately.
Heart-thawing Ice
Slowly flying.
Just existing.
Possessing nothing.
Numb of feeling.
Always thinking.
Lost in dreams.
So much silence.
So alone.
A crash.
A vision of beauty.
Confusion.
Descent.
Rising hastily.
Ignorant apologies.
Seeing the eyes.
Oh...
Forever loving no-one else.

The slowly flying, just existing part is still something I experience even after 17 years... (With the numbness and solitude missing, I'm happy to say =) ).
I was thinking... Would you be interested in doing a small collaborative writing project with me? I was thinking, perhaps you and @michelle.gent might be interested:
I would start a story - say 300-400 only - and then you would continue it. And Michelle continue yours. Each time only 2 or 3 paragraphs. We continue in the way until the story comes to a natural conclusion (or we can determine when to end in some other way...).
Well, hello and thank you; that's a lovely compliment. Do you think we could revisit this a bit down the road? I know for sure that Michelle has a ton on her plate and can't commit to this. For myself, I haven't got the physical energy right now, as health issues have reared their ugly head this week and I'm disabled, so it makes it a bit tough for me to commit. But I'm not counting out the possibility, and like I said, I'm honoured you thought of me for a collaboration. (By the way, my name is Julie) :)

I've had this feeling of meeting eyes and getting the feeling of love for someone for the first time. Unfortunately it didn't end up happily ever after, but the feeling is grand while it happens! I dig this fractal, too, and definitely think it does a good job at encapsulating the poem
Indeed, if one ever experiences this kind of pure idealised love, it is bound not to last long. Especially since usually the feeling is not mutual ;P ... And even when it is, the flame burns so hotly that it often burns out completely rather quickly.
This is very true! Gas burns up pretty quick once it's on fire!
