"Lux Ornatia" | Commissioned Work - Your Own Personalised Mandala!

in #art6 years ago

Today's Mandala is something different.

What you see below is my first and only commission, done more than a year ago, for a friend and colleague.

Her stepmother's birthday was coming up and she asked me to do a mandala for her. We spent about 3 weeks working on it... She told me all about her stepmother, and I designed a mandala accordingly. I would work on something, send it to my friend, she would comment on it, and I would work some more.

And so it went for about 18 renditions, until she was 100% happy with it. I then got it printed on museum-grade paper, with top-of-the-line Canon ink, which you can see below.

As you can see above, the gold parts actually look like they are glowing, that is how good the quality of the paper/ink is. The paper used was the Infinity line by Canson (who have been making paper for over 450 years!), in particular, the Rag Photographique.

It was printed on Canon's iPF8400 12-colour water-based pigment inkjet printer.

Here is the rendered fractal image without the added embellishments to its border:

And last but not least, here is my Certificate of Authenticity, signed by both myself and the printer:

It states all the print's specifications, and guarantees both the quality and the fact that only one print will ever be made of this piece. I am not allowed to make another print of this! And in fact, I have deleted the original full-sized TIFF file, so it is literally impossible for me to recreate this, making that print a truly original, unique piece of art, the only one of its kind in existence.

Your Own Personal Mandala:

Would you like your own, personalised mandala? A piece of art that represents your personality, your essence, your very soul...! ;)

I'd be happy to create one with you, for a fair price. How much, exactly? There are two ways we can look at this.

First, we could simply start working together... You tell me about yourself, giving little details, keywords, etc. and I send you renditions which I revise until you are 100% happy with your mandala. I then calculate how much it is based on over-all effort. It could be anything from $25 to $150 dollars.

OR, you can tell me, Jody, I can only afford a $25 mandala, and I will adjust myself accordingly (generally this will mean that it will be smaller, NOT that I will put much less effort into the work!).

Lastly, you choose whether you want me to print it here and send it to you (printing and shipping costs will then be added) or if you want me to send you the TIFF image for you to get it printed at a printer of your choice in your city.

So! How about it? =) ... Or perhaps you have your mother's birthday coming up? Or what about that best friend of yours who you never show your appreciation to? ;P ... A personalised mandala can be the perfect gift.

I appreciate it more than can be expressed in one line at the end of a post.

This is absolutely gorgeous man! Wow. I would really love one of these myself. I am potentially interested! It would be cool if you accepted STEEM or SBD ;) buuuuuut I could definitely see myself getting one of these and paying FIAT too. I will think on this :)

Your delight is so very gratifying =) Thank you! ... As for accepting STEEM, I have thought about it the only thing stopping me is that I would most likely power it up, and I actually need the money now ;P ... I took a bit of a risk in the beginning of this year, reducing hours at work to try "go it on my own" if you know what I mean. Twas going well but then I suddenly had all my private students coincidentally quit their course (my fault for not drawing up a contract) so I'm in a small bit of hot water now...

Long story short: For now I need fiat, though I'll be accepting all kinds of crypto-currencies in the future.

Let's chat on Discord whenever you're ready =) .. I'm 'Mandelsage#6703' there.

Totally understandable brudda. Just shot you a message ;)
