Owl close up painting

in #art6 years ago

Here is a painting I created of a close up of an owl I painted in 2016.
It is painted in acrylics on canvas and I only used one large round bristle brush whereas I usually use a rigger brush quite a lot. I did this because I wanted loose big strokes and I think it worked well?
This is one of the works I am uploading to show the history of my painting and how I have progressed over the past 3 years or so.
Hopefully you will see the improvement as I go along?
This was created two years ago when I was getting back into painting after a two decade break. Getting the 'knack' back didn't take too long and now I am painting in oils and my work is far superior. I thought I would share some older paintings though so that people can see how I have improved through time. I give a lot of thanks to all the artists out there sharing their process which helped me develop. I will be sharing newer paintings as I go along, and the photo quality gets better too. I have also done some time lapse videos so you can see my process better.
I really do appreciate any comments and constructive criticism as I go along this path of learning.
Thanks for clicking, peace!

This is very nice @libramedia, but since I curate for a few groups, I'd like to tell you that many here appreciate seeing "process photos". I know that this one is a couple years old, but maybe for any new work that you do, you can take photos along the way so we can all see not just the finished product. Plus, it always "proves" that it's your own work.

I found your post because @dipoabasch featured you in his Pay it Forward Curation Contest entry; feel free to join us with an entry of your own next week if you'd like :)

Thank you for your kind comment and advice. As I am showing my history of work before I had a web cam I don't have any process photos. However once I get to my newer works there will be time lapse videos with them. Thanks again

Oh that sounds awesome!! Of course, the past can't be reproduced ;)

You're most welcome too; I hope this all works out for you!

Greetings from Indonesia @libramedia 😉 I like the owl.. especially its eyes.. how long did you finish up a painting like this? I have friend who also a painter.. he took 5 months to complete a sumatran tiger painting. Is using acrylic harder then pencil or charcoal?

I'm not a painter not even an art observer.. but I like art works😊make my heart happy just by staring at certain paintings.

I found your post through @dipoabasch entry post in the pay it forward contest this week.. keep it on steemit!

Hello there and thank you. This painting only took about an hour because it was just a 'loose' style I use sometimes. I have a painting that I have been working on for about 4 years on and off, totaling about 100 hours so far, so everyone is different for me. Different media is harder to use in some ways and easier in others, I suppose it depends on your preference. My favorite at the moment is oil paint but it took me a long time to get the hang of it. I will be loading up some oil paintings in the future and you should be able to see the difference in quality. I also have a couple of timelapse videos which show the process, so I hope you look out for them? thanks again x

I'm folliwing and would love to enjoy the free art painting gallery on Steemit 😊 an hour for that owl painting... wheeeww! 👏👏👏 that's really cool @libramedia.

Thank you so much, you are very kind and uplifting. I will be uploading a time lapse of me finishing a painting very shortly, please check back soon x

Hello there @libramedia! Interesting painting...

I've found your post after @dipoabasch featured you in the Pay It Forward Contest but there's something about your profile that's bothering me.

How come you are on Steem for so long... and you only have 25 SP ? Doesn't make much sense to me. I've investigated a bit and I saw that, on the same day, back in March 2018, you've sent around 20 SBD to several accounts... instead of using it to convert to STEEM and Power Up.

Can you please explain why you did that? I see you've sent SBD to some smaller accounts... but also to some big whales, who don't really need any help from you.

I hope you don't get annoyed by my questions. I'm just confused and wondering why would you do such a thing?

I wanted to help out some people who were trying to get the truth out, mainly journalists who are not main stream.... Thanks for the upvote :D

Oh, I see. Nice of you to do that. :-)

Beautiful artwork! I'd love to see how you'd do this same image now.

I found you because @dipoabasch featured you in the Pay it Forward Curation Contest. Keep up the great work!
