X-Factor Issue 42 Cover by Arthur Adams

The year was 1989, the X-Factor was operating without Xavier, and Arthur Adams blew our minds drawing out the action. The details in this cover are staggering, from a time where such detail was rather rare. Adams' signature cross hatching style forces the viewer's eye down into the action where the beasts are closing in. They are going after the young mutant under the table but no worries, the X-Factor is looking into this new mutant too! An Arthur Adams piece, of this age, of this nature, with these characters, is immensely cool and likely very expensive.

Stowaway to the Stars Pg. 22 by John Byrne

John Byrne has been drawing and writing comic books since the 1970's and his work is absolutely everywhere. In 2016, Byrne released a coloring book for adults called Stowaway to the Stars. Adult coloring books are really fun, rewarding, and they are coming back in a big way. My wife bought one for her mother over Christmas, then my wife got a few adult coloring books of her own. My wife and I have even sat down on a Saturday night recently to color together. You should try it!

This original drawing for the coloring book is now on sale for $750.00 along with a huge assortment of additional images from the book.

This coloring book looks superb, offering a huge assortment of high quality drawings waiting to be colored. The drawings take place on another planet or in space and I believe there is somewhat of a story being told.

Brightest Day Green Lantern Emerald Warriors #4 Variant Painted Cover by Felipe Massafera

Felipe Massafera is a professional artists from Brazil who specializes in painting. His name is often closely associated with Alex Ross due to the similarity in style but Massafera's own art dealer explains that Massafera has long looked up to and studied Alex Ross a great deal prior to becoming a professional. Nothing wrong with that!

Here Massafera has painted a wicked close-up of Kilowog, who has been featured in numerous comics, movies, and cartoons as a member of the Green Lantern Corps. Kilowog's forehead seems to sweat and glisten in the light while the scales and teeth snarl wonoderfully in the lower half of the image.

The original painting is selling right now on eBay for $3,199.99.

Red Sonja #3: When Hell Laughs" Paperback Cover

Borris Vallejo is a long time, world renown, fantasy artist. He is probably the most famous and impressive of his kind, so let's make no mistake here, this is WORLD CLASS TALENT. Vallejo is 76 years old today and has been painting like this since we was 12. Vallejo's body of work is so massive, it takes several volumes of books to display it all, and through all of that practice comes a mastery at fantasy painting that is second to none.

This image is huge so you really should open it up on it's own to zoom in. That look in Red Sonja's eyes is unmistakable... It says, I just killed a man, and I will do it again if I have to.

The warm color tones and fantasy background make this a timeless, classic piece that shall be cherished for thousands of generations to come!

You can buy the original painting right now for $29,500.00. Don't worry, it will be well worth it when you sell it for even more money in 5 years time. Oh the life of an art dealer! My problem is, if I bought this, I would never sell it... EVER! So I would probably be a rather terrible art dealer, loosing all my profits to cool art hanging on my walls.

Elektra: Assassin #8 Splash Page 17 by Bill Sienkiewicz

I own this entire series of books from the 1980s and I love them. I love the story and I love the award winning paintings by Bill Sienkiewicz that fill every page of the mini series.

This series does not indicate that Elektra would be found in a NYC cafe drinking Coffee. Which is where Ben Affleck met Jennifer Garner as Elekctra in their rather marginal DareDevil movie. No, no, no, no...

This version of Elektra was much more violent and gruesome. The story line details her escape from the orphanage by assassinating people as a child. She was a real mess growing up, uneducated, and highly anti-social with her only skills being in murder. So she attracts an awful breed of characters to surround her and go after her. This is not the kind of person that gently sips coffee at a common cafe, this is the story of a brutal assassin escaping the life she was born into.

This Sienkiewicz piece looks and feels like the 1980s, which was one of my favorite decades. The outfit that gangster is wearing reminds me of clothing from Miami Vice back in those days. All of the warmer pinks and reds mixed on to that blue background really gives a strong indication of the style for this day in age.

The original painting can be purchased right now for $5500.00.

Sort:

That Art Adams work is great. It is a testament to him and artists like him, that they were putting in detail and attention which wasn't even replicated well by the printing of the day, but probably just for pride and craftsmanship!

Good input! To your point, here is the printed cover.
