Portrait 9 - Hyper-realism Drawing of Bukunmi Oluwasina (Nollywood actress)

Hey!

Guess what? This is another one from @kayda-ventures. Watch out for more hints on making hyperrealistic drawings........

Here in this picture, I was making use of a white charcoal pencil to create the hair strands and to bring out the quality of the hair.

# Now let's go to the step by step process of this drawing
# step 1 The first step in the actualization of this drawing is that I made a sketch (outlining) of the shapes and figures of my model (reference). This is achieved with the use of a mechanical pencil which creates faint and accurate marks on the paper. The outlining of the figures is the major part of the drawing. If after the sketch, there is no resemblance of what you are representing on paper with what you have on set, then, so much is wrong with your sketch which means you will have to either start all over for a need job or you make the little changes if it's not much.....

# step 2

Here is where the shading began. I made a production of my own charcoal powder and graphite powder to start the processing. Shading and producing a realistic drawing, I shaded this portrait box by box. To achieve the total resemblance of my reference model, I dedicated so much time to it because as I shade box by box, I make and identify all details. time needs to be taken on the drawing. It needs full concentration and study to get a perfect match of the picture you are producing.

I think it's really cool how you create boxes on the original photo, then use this to strategically add shading and detail etcetera on your drawing. Is this something you learned? Or perhaps just something you came up with?

So your art intrigues me, and I start researching and find that hyperrealism was born from photorealism, and this is quite a popular method of drawing. The attention to detail is amazing, and I think you have really embraced the hyper-realistic art form. I look forward to seeing more of your drawings, and would say... keep up the good work!!

Thanks so much. I have heard of the method before and I have read books on the instances of creating boxes for portrait. I designed this very method I use myself. There are different ways of grinding but I chose to improvise on my own type of drawing and shading.
