Bes

in #art6 years ago (edited)

Inspired by my visit to the National Museum the other day, I have made this drawing of the strange Egyptian God, Bes. Every time I felt tired while nitpicking with the digital pencil I thought of my Steemit friend Reinhard (@reinhard-schmid) who makes the most smooth glass drawings with beautiful ladies, fish and odd machinery . "Reinhard would not fret just because he was only halfway done... that guy is one patient German... with perfect technique... pull yourself together Katharsisdrill!"

So this drawing is dedicated to Reinhard.

That Bes is quite a character, isn't he ;-) Thanks a lot for dedicating the drawing to me. Its awesome!!

Thank you also for the compliments... not so sure I can live up to that. Just because eventually there might be a decent result, it doesn't mean I avoid all possible detours and distractions... and of course, when I get to a difficult situation, I usually remember that I really have to do some urgent lawn mowing or something like that. I have also been to the point, when I wanted to ask a colleague to finish a piece... 😜...

My wife think it looks like me. A nice horny house God with sunglasses :)

I know it is not always as it seems underneath the artists smooth façade, but I really did think of you while making it. Digital pencil is not at all as sensitive as the real thing so I was highly annoyed many times.

I think this is the first NSFW post I've ever seen from you.

I was not expecting this. :)

And it is a cool drawing!!

I think I have made a few things that had to have the nsfw-tag, but it haven't been a large part of what I am doing these days, that is true.

your picture is impressive, I honestly laugh, the poor god I think, because it has no wings, but this is art, the art penetrates something in our subconscious so that it gives birth to a great imagination

Yes, it is funny. I copied all the iconographic symbols from the old statues. These long forgotten people must have had a vivid imagination.

Found you via @bryan.imhoff... love the art and the strong lines. Upvoted and followed!

Thanks, always good with more comic people here. The next page of Phill from GCHQ is a bit delayed, but normally I make a page each week.

Bes is so ugly-cute, what a great subject. Gotta enjoy that attention to the shading - thanks for not giving up on it.

art is not restricted by religion, art is very beautiful, i like your picture, a little vulgar, but still still beautiful

Some religious people do try to restrict art, but it can't be the goal of religion to limit the knowledge of people. You should protect children, but not grown-ups. Thanks for the kind words. I copied the strange attributes from the ancient statues, but it is maybe a little vulgar :)

I really agree with you @katharsisdrill, we just need to laugh our children until the time comes for them, thanks for the appreciation :-))

That is one happy little god...
