The Last Forest - Tell A Story To Me, Story

It was on the last day of the last month, that the last son of the last family to move into the last town on the border of the last forest, went out for a walk at last, for also the last time.
This last lad of the last family had a peculiar desire to be the first at something. His many brothers and sisters that came before, had always done something before him. When he went to school he was always last in line, at dinner time he was the last to get fed, he also seemed to be the last to go to sleep in the last to wake up. This last lad, just had a long-lasting desire to be first at something.
It was on the last day the last month that everyone had a holiday in town. Our last lad awoke late (*as always), and was last out of the house just-in-time to see his family piling in the car to drive down the road.
Still being rather new last town, our last lad decided to go for a stroll in the last forest. Despite his parents warning never to set forth in this forest on the edge, our last lad packed a bag and said "I'm gonna have a blast today, and be first in something by Jimmy!". And with that off he strolled into the last forest.
As he strolled into the forest he realized he was the first at many things, the first to cross this stream, first to jump over this log, the first to see this woodpecker on a tree. Our last lad was no longer last perhaps first in a lot of things!
He scampered along looking at things saying he was the first step on this grass and that-n-this, He was so besides himself with excitement that when he came to the edge and he saw a wooden sign, he pointed at the sign and said I'm the first to read this... The it hit him and he thought, "there is a sign here... That means other people have walked where I've walked, and I might not, be the first at this?"
With that his heart sank to the last rung in his chest. He was last again. Gazing his eyes up he read what the sign said, "Congratulations you reach the end, that means everything at your back is behind you, and your first!".
Overcome with excitement he realized that just as long as he faced out into the great expense, everything and anything that is behind him, is behind him, and technically he is first.
He proceeded to build a house on the edge of the last forest, never returning home, but was at last first in a world that he was always last in.

For some reason I was expecting the last lad to die at the last. Might just be my twisted self :)
I was thinking about an ending along them lines... like he would be the first to toss himself off the cliff or something like that.. but then, I thought of perhaps a happy ending would be better. lol
