From pages to a book....

in art •  2 months ago

Ok I think I finally got all the arts into the computer and got a rough draft saved. Got to just go thru and tweak a few things, been really thinking about the cover font, and @steemitadventure had a great suggestion for some added flair so I have to try that out for sure. Other than that i'm not sure what else I can say at this point..... I'm sure there is more to do though hahahahaha

I like looking at all these illustrations. I think you painted them very well. It is certainly good looking enough to illustrate for a book. Good luck with your endeavor, I wish you lots of success :).

@gotmeens Imprecionate my niece loves marine life and so do I. So we're both your fans. We'd buy your art and be first in line. Great. Great. Thank you for taking us on a trip to the beautiful life of the sea in your art. A big greeting and a big hug.

Hello that is very pretty for child or not:) i don't think the page is to full but what age group are you targetting?i really like the atmosphere that you create in you art it looks lovely.

·

Thank you.... I didn't have such a set age range really, but probably kids like eight years and younger probably.... and hopefully their parents can enjoy it along with them so possibly all ages :)

Is this something you would buy for your kid?

I can only speak for myself but this is definitely something I would buy not only for my kids, but also for grown ups. It's perfect both from artistic and educational points of view. Those watercolors are absolutely amazing and naming the fish is an excellent idea. The cover and the back are my favorite and if I would have to choose a favorite I'd say the green sea turtle, the red snapper and the lion fish.
Excellent job and good luck!

·

Thank you so much.... I really love to paint and wanted to see if I could capture what I had been putting on canvas, and playing cards, and pottery.... pretty much if it's close to me I paint on it haha, and throw it in a book that would read and not get to cluttered or busy. Thanks again :)

·

The pleasure is all mine, keep up the good work! Now I'm going to check out your work :)

This is beautiful. My daughter would love it.

·

Thanks for stopping by :)

I love so much your work. Every kids like marine life. And with a story, it can help them to remember it easily. And with such beautiful art work, who can resists not to buy your book. I enjoy reading it, especially your art!!!

·

Thank you, we really tried to get the text to be fun and engaging to keep the kids wanting to turn the page, and I kinda forced the marine theme on my friends.... It's my favorite to paint :)

·
·

:p I can imagine your reactions when your friend force you. But I glad is a good force, it came out very good. Yes, I cannot agree more, can see that you love to paint, because it look really nice.

Maybe you can come out another series of story like animal. I bet the kids sure like it.

·
·
·

Hahahaha what are friends for :) Yea I got the itch now I really want to do another one with different animals for sure.

·
·
·
·

Wow.. good move.. I will sit tight and wait for it.

Oh wow. This looks amazing!
I don't have a child, and have little to no experience with them, so I can't really judge if there's too much going on in the pages... but the art... Daaamn! This looks awesome!

Great work!

·

Thanks a lot... as tedious as it was I had a lot of fun putting all this together.

I like your illustrations. I hope that this book will see its readers :). Very bright and informative. It will be interesting not only for children. Your creativity deserves a lot of attention. Good luck!

·

Thank you, I'm glad we managed to contain my mess into a little portable art piece :)

Aaaaaaw... it's pure magic.
Thank you for sharing this!

·

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and check it out :)

The turtles adventure! Well, after the long search he was able to find a pilot friend which has the same desire as he does- to explore the seas, finally they can embark on that adventure hahahah...

It was a fun and interesting read for me. Think the adventure reached its peak when the turtle had to face all of those bottles and trash deep down in the water, he must have been like "I never bargained for this" lol.

I have no kid(s) really, I seem to be the kid around here (lol), I wouldn't mind buying it for myself (or my neighbors cute daughter). I think it will be an amazing and fun book for kids.

And not only that, it has great lessons in it, friendship, contributing their part to keeping the sea clean (so their little turtle friend doesn't have to face such "trashy" dangers down there) and of course that last where they get to identify the different organisms they see there. It will be fun!

Your artwork is amazing, and you did really well with the story. I enjoyed it!!

·

Thank you so much for the feedback. Me and my friends defintaly went thru a lot of iterations with the text to try and keep it engaging and whatnot. I painted a bunch of half scale paintings of each page at first and it really helped to see what we were trying to talk about, instead of writing it first then putting images to go with it. So glad that you enjoyed it :)

·
·

You did put your hearts (you and your friends) and it did turn out great. The method you followed in getting this done definitely did help to capture your ideas better!

·
·
·

Appreciate it a lot... we had a lot of fun putting this whole thing together :)

·
·
·
·

Anything that brings fun, productivity and this much creativity definitely is a keeper. Keep painting and writing!!

It's cute and it's the type kind of art that sells well with childrens books. I checked your previous posts and wow. You really put a lot of effort creating this compilation and it all adds up now. I appreciate the watercolor texture and it suits the image really well since it represents an oceanic environment. Congratulations on the curie :D

·

Thank you..... haha it was definitely a journey to get here. I was skeptical at first if the watercolors would translate well to a book, but with a bit of help from the computer it came out pretty much like what I was seeing in my head..... which is always good hahahaha. :)

There is so much love in your art @gotmeens! All the different ocean species look so real and the watercolour is amazing! The different "pages" remind me of Nemo!!
It is a good story for children to read about the ocean life and environmental issues, but probably for the older ones? The younger ones may need less and simpler words. Which age group are you targeting?

My child use to have a lot of books very much like this one. That was a very long time ago. Things change so quickly. I still think parents search for high quality material for their kids.
Congrats on the progress so far. Looks like you are almost there.

You got amazing drawings! Kids will really love these and I think even parents. If I can make a suggestion though, I think it will be better if you use communication bubbles like these to make the animals talking to each other and not just the narrator "talking."

Very good job! Keep drawing! 😊

howdy from Texas gotmeens! wow I love this project that you did, not just because of the artwork and colors but because this thing is really educational for kids. I think it's a winner.
Do you have other kids books or stories?

This looks fantastic! My little one would love it as well. He is fascinated by the marine life. Beautiful drawings!

·

Thank you, and that's great to hear that the kids would love it :)

It's definitely great work, and yes I would buy something like this for the grandkids now. I could easily see this in a scholastic book fair.
One thing I would probably look at changing since it is meant for a younger reader, I would think about looking for a slightly less decorated font for the words.
Another thing I could see kids enjoying this as a short narrated cartoon as well. Doesn't really have to be super animated it could be just a page-turner on YouTube or something. Like an audiobook with pictures.

·

Thanks so much for the feedback.... I have really been looking at the font as well and am thinking about finding a bit simpler one.... and I think a motion comic would be so cool :)

·
·

I really like the motion comic, I have seen several of them done that way before. I did find this resource for a reference when you get ready...

Oh what a fantastic work :-) I love this little fishies and colorful paintings. Haha and well described this fish names in picture 11-13 👌 so sweet 😀!
Keep on with the painting and lovely greetings from Germany to you ✌️

·

Thanks for checking out the art, and I'm glad you liked those last pages.. that was a last minute add on to help round the whole book out... really glad you enjoyed it :)

What beautiful artwork and very educational for kids! I would have definitely purchased for my daughter and grandkids when they were toddlers. My grandchildren are still single but maybe someday I will have great grandkids. Books like this spark an interest in reading and creativity. This should be a great success in book stores!
