The Female Genital Mutilation starts to be known worldwide and more thanks to the incredible efforts of more artists and creatives raising awareness to make a terms to such practices and support the broad public through education. Creatives are attracting even more attention through artwork in a more impactful way than classicals. Art can be controversial, it can be made to shock and or make sensitive the public with the sincerity inherent of their works. It can be as shocking as the reality is. There is a wide range of artistic works they can do. Here in Vienna, with @artcanhelp, some made paintings, even 5 meters tall graffitis on houses’ walls. Furthermore, our group made last week astounding photos about that reality.

As a Globalschool student, I made this poster to raise people’s attention to that this is a serious problem.

The idea was a photo with text in it, because a photo with short texts raise more awareness than one without it. In the visual you can observe on the woman body there are scissors and an interrupted line. These two symbolise the cutting practice in a sensitive way. I made it in this gentle way as the woman is wearing her underwear only, however, the picture is not obscene.

To catch more attention, I used blue and yellow colours, these are contrasting each others and people notice it more.
