Chaos Dwarfs #10 Let's paint step by step!

in #art8 years ago

Hello and welcome to another step by step miniature painting post of mine! I've been a bit busy with workshops and exams for my PT training but I managed to finish this mean little fella in my little spare time. It is one of my favourite models from the Scibor Evil Dwarfs but I really don't like how their skin is shaped. It looks more like a solid rock surface rather than skin and it is hard to make it look realistic skin like. However lets jump into it!

Let's get to painting!

First off I finished the skin. As I mentioned it was quite annoying with the resin being shaped quite weird but it is what it is models are quite nice regardless. As for the colours I used Cadian fleshtone (GW) and Dark sea Blue (Vallejo) - for the base and shadows using different consistencies for either, Ivory White (Vallejo) for highlights and Mephiston Red (GW) to add some colour with a few glazes.

Next off I wanted to finish the beard so I can see the face pop a bit more and figure out if I need to go back to it and do some more work. It is quite interesting how much of a difference it makes when you add more colours around the area you've already painted - it completely livens up. For the beard I used Mournfang Brown, Skrag Brown (GW), Ivory White (Vallejo). The metal I did with the same recipe I've been using in the previous posts - Dark Sea Blue, Ivory White, Tank brown (Vallejo) - wet blending and glazing. The cloth I painted with Khorn red, Mephiston red, Evil suns Scarlet  (GW) building it up and adding some Dryad Bark brown in the recesses.

Last I finished the weapons, gold ornaments and the base. The metal on the hammers I painted using Dawnstone grey and black (GW), Ivory white (Vallejo) for the highlights. Gold I did with Japanese Uniform (Vallejo) mixed with black for the base and White for the highlights.

Still experimenting with the light tent and backgrounds. Can't figure out the light yet it is either too bright on black background or way too dark on white. Will find out how to do it properly one day I promise! :)
