STREET ART – magical art from El Mac
El Mac (or Miles MacGregor) is an internationally renowned artist, based in Los Angeles. He is one of the big artists of our time. Based in Los Angeles where his street art is called « The heart and soul of Los Angeles».
In Aalborg he has painted several pieces as the «The Lady of Aalborg». When I was visiting Aalborg a few weeks ago, my plan was to see the other called «Purity of heart».
I went to Annebergsvej with my niece to take photos. From www.visitaalborg.dk we learned which settings on the phone we could use to transform the photo into a negative. Like the ones we use to look at when we had films in the old analog cameras. We tried it out.
Set the iPhone as described and this will be the result!
El Mac began painting both smaller paintings indoor as well as public murals and graffiti in the mid '90s. He has a unique style which utilizes repeating contour patterns. Maybe what he is best known for is his paintings exploring feminine beauty and honoring ordinary, overlooked or marginalized people. He sprays with the sprayhead and freezes the cans down, so the pressure in them drops, making it harder to paint, but at the same time it gives the look he wants.
