Summer Flowers Lamp

I'm excited to share my recently completed project with you! This lamp, entitled "Summer Flowers" is now available on my website. This project is entirely handmade, with
hand-dyed silk charmeuse, an up-cycled 1890's blouse, antique French silk ribbon flowers, and hand stung beads and a fully-restored vintage Toleware base.

Side view

The sides of the shade are covered in silk and metal mesh that I purchased in France, from Sophie Hallette lacemakers.

Bead View

The shade contains over 2,500 hand-strung beads, including Czech crystals and 10-K gold-plated metal beads.

Back View

The back of the shade is covered first with silk, then a layer of antique silk lace from an 1800's blouse. The pattern is like nothing I've even seen.

Unlit View

Silk lamps can appear entirely different when unlit. Here's a look at the lamp when unlit.

If you are interested in viewing the step-by-step process by which this lamp was made, please see my prior blog post, entitled "Making Beaded Victorian Lampshades"

Thanks so much for viewing. I'm off to start another lamp.

Well, thanks bot. LOL!

nice and fabulous pics nice

@rahulsingh01, I was a little worried about the pic size. Wondered if they were too big and overwhelming. Thanks for that feedback! Still trying out resizing. :-)

Thanks, rahulsingh01! It takes about a month to make each lamp, given that I have a day job.

Hi @crystlize!!!!! Love this lamp. Thanks for leaving me the link so I could come see it. Wahoo. I love how it turned out. Love you pics too. Holy moly, it takes a month to make these. They are truly works of art. Im having the same concerns about photos. If you get any tips, let me know. :)

Thanks for sharing.

H there, @wecanbesublime! Thanks so much for the kind compliments! Yes, I have tips on photo size! Techie-friend says to save a copy, re-size using Paint (or other photo editing software) and when they upload they will be smaller. I'm going to try it.

@crystalize, Thanks. My brother suggested the same. I'm going to try it. too.

You know, I am finding a hard tie writing blog entries, because I want to make sure that I upvote my friends who have answered my replies. Do you have that challenge, or is it just me. Its a pleasure to stay connected with you though..

Hi there, @wecanbesumblime! Yes, I feel it too. I work at a "day job" all day, so I have a hard time finding as much time as I would like, to dedicate to Steemit. Plus, those crazy lamps keep me pretty busy. LOL! For me, I just wait on the blog entries until I think of something I would like to share. I'm picky about topics, and don't want to litter the system. From what I have read here, we are actually doing the right thing--talking to each other, reading content and contributing our thoughts to the good stuff. When the ideas and time become present, you'll be off and running with new posts.
