La idea surgió hace un par de días, solo en mi habitación tratando de buscar escape en mis libros, revisando entre cajas y cajas con cientos de libros arropando el piso, al dirigir mi vista hacia mi cama empezó a gestarse la idea, vino a mi mente esa sensación de soledad de nuevo, acompañada de una descarga de inspiración que comenzó a llenar mi pecho de inmediato, pude imaginarme sentado en la cama y desde ahí todo lo demás vino por inercia, comencé a componer en una pequeña hoja de cuaderno lo que luego se convirtió en el boceto inicial de la pintura. Tuve un intento fallido, el primer dibujo en el lienzo quedó totalmente desproporcionado, en mi defensa, era muy tarde en la noche y el sueño estaba empezando a ganar la batalla.

Al amanecer limpié el lienzo para dibujar de nuevo, esta vez con mas calma, y el boceto quedó tal y como originalmente lo había pensado, desde el inicio sentía que iba por buen camino, este cuadro será la principal muestra para una propuesta para una exposición en un importante salón de exposiciones de la ciudad de Mérida, Venezuela, sin embargo preferiría no hablar mucho del tema por los momentos.

Todo el boceto parte desde un punto de fuga desde donde surgen las lineas oblicuas que sirven de guía para dibujar la estructura, y los elementos ubicados en ella, a pesar de tener un primer intento fallido, en el segundo intento todos los elementos fueron ubicados correctamente, aunque me costó un poco ubicar el tamaño de la cama y la perspectiva desde la que debía ser vista, aunque luego de un par de horas de casi perder la paciencia, culminé el boceto.

I had a failed attempt, the first drawing on the canvas was totally disproportionate, in my defense, It was late at night and sleep was beginning to win the battle.

At dawn I cleaned the canvas to draw again, this time with more calm, and the sketch was just as I had originally thought, from the beginning I felt that I was on the right track, this painting will be the main sample for a proposal for an exhibition In an important exhibition hall in the city of Mérida, Venezuela, however, I would rather not talk much about the subject at the moment.

The whole sketch starts from a vanishing point from where the oblique lines emerge that serve as a guide to draw the structure, and the elements located in it, despite having a failed first attempt, in the second attempt all the elements were correctly located , although it took me a bit to locate the size of the bed and the perspective from which it should be seen, although after a couple of hours of almost losing my temper, I finished the sketch.

Hay un sinfín de detalles ocultos sumamente importantes que tienen demasiado significado para mi, detalles que le dan la sensación de soledad a la pintura, además de una atmósfera de iluminación sepia, bastante opaco y unas paredes con aspecto lúgubre, este será el único detalle que explicaré, la iluminación originalmente debía ser con tonos fríos, tonos azules, sin embargo el día que empecé a pintar comencé a sentir un poco de fiebre, no pensé que sería para tanto pero ya al anochecer estaba muy enfermo, el mundo se sentía visualmente oscuro, el malestar era constante, y podía ver mi habitación con esa luz opaca, por este motivo se me ocurrió tratar de imitar en el lienzo esa iluminación con la que veía mi habitación desde mi enfermedad, como para tratar de reflejar directamente en la pintura la totalidad de las sensaciones de mi entorno y mi persona en esos momentos.

La pintura que está colgado en la pared del fondo es uno de los detalles que mas me gustó, no tenía idea de lo que iba a pintar y simplemente improvisé, algo que últimamente estoy haciendo mucho en mis pinturas, lo primero que trabajé fue el marco de madera, con sus luces y sombras para darle un toque de realismo, y al final trabajé en la pintura usando un contraste fuerte entre colores fríos en la zona superior y colores cálidos en el centro y la zona inferior. En cuanto a la figura, dejo a criterio de ustedes lo que decidan ver ahí, espero leerlos en comentarios.

The painting that is hanging on the back wall is one of the details that I liked the most, I had no idea what I was going to paint and I simply improvised, something that lately I am doing a lot in my paintings, the first thing I worked on was the frame of wood, with its lights and shadows to give it a touch of realism, and in the end I worked on the paint using a strong contrast between cold colors in the upper area and warm colors in the center and the lower area. La cama es el detalle mas profundo de toda la pintura, la gran mayoría del significado está ahí, trabajé la textura a detalle por un par de días, partiendo de un fondo blanco y oscureciendo con ocre, siena, y marrón oscuro, retocando cada cierto tiempo hasta lograr el detalle de la tela arrugada que da la impresión de una cama desordenada. El suelo es de una tonalidad gris con toques de azul y ocre, no hay ningún elemento en el suelo a pesar de que originalmente la idea era pintar unos zapatos y un retrato roto, sin embargo esos detalles estaban sobrando, creo que todo lo que quería expresar ya estaba perfectamente reflejado en la pintura.

Por último, un detalle que dejaré al misterio por unos días, el cuadro de la pared del lado izquierdo, una escena nocturna, mi detalle favorito, una obra de arte dentro de una obra de arte, la esencia de la Nocturnalia.

The bed is the deepest detail of the whole painting, the vast majority of the meaning is there, I worked the texture in detail for a couple of days, starting from a white background and darkening with ocher, sienna, and dark brown, retouching every certain time to achieve the detail of the wrinkled fabric that gives the impression of a messy bed.
