Life is like a sandwich. I think so.
You get up early and rush off to your office or an event. In fact, maybe you did not get a shower. I often do. You need breakfast but a quick breakfast. Cold sandwich may solve your problem.
A sandwich or club sandwich is a slice of bread with a piece of meat, tomatoes, cheese, mayonnaise, and some vegetables or lettuce. It is said that the Union Club chefs in New York City, United States, introduced this type of food for the first time. A piece of it's ad appeared on page 2 of the The Evening World edition of Monday, 18 November 1889:
Have you tried a Union Club sandwich yet? Two toasted pieces of Graham bread, with a layer of turkey or chicken and ham between them, served warm.
Indonesia has no tradition with this kind of food, especially from bread. Indonesian food is generally based on rice or sticky rice. There is no enough information when bread is introduced in the country and then become a common food found in houses or hotels.
But life is like a sandwich. Some of the above, some are below. One can not be erased. Even if you only have a piece of bread, you have to fold it to become a sandwich.
In the middle there are all sorts of things. Meat and vegetables are the main ones. You can become vegan and choose a salad alone or become a carnivore by eating meat. No matter what your choice, it will affect your life today.
Life is like a sandwich. You have to swallow everything to taste it all. But, believe me, you will lose the detail of every flavor.
I found this sandwich in Deresto, a cozy restaurant in Bogor Nirwana Residence, Bogor.
Good morning. Have a nice sandwich.

Hidup dalam Setangkup Roti Lapis
Hidup itu seperti roti lapis. Aku pikir demikian.
Sepotong iklannya muncul di halaman 2 koran The Evening World edisi Senin, 18 November 1889:
Have you tried a Union Club sandwich yet? Two toasted pieces of Graham bread, with a layer of turkey or chicken and ham between them, served warm.
Tapi, hidup memang seperti roti lapis.
Selamat pagi. Selamat makan roti lapis.
