We finished a big meal and just showing off full bellies.

This is a flat color semi-realistic style simple background commission for ForrestTheBoar on twitter. I certainly enjoyed doing this type of pic for him with his and my character involved. Nothing hugely special here than just two gluttons hanging out. :3

• Canvas Prep/Rough Sketch

  Layers Used:

  Canvas Background layer

  Rough Sketch layer

  Start off with a neutral color background like grey. Then sketch in a rough sketch of the characters and their poses.

• Fine Sketch

  Layers Used:

  Fine Sketch layer

  Draw in a finer detail sketch over the roughs.

• Lineart

  Layers Used:

  Foreground Folder -> Lineart layer

  After client approval, then I can begin the linearts.

• Base/Primary Color

  Layers Used:

  Foreground Folder -> Base Color layer

  Foreground Folder -> 1st Character Folder* -> Primary Color layer

  Foreground Folder -> 2nd Character Folder* -> Primary Color layer

  Use the contiguous "wizard" selection tool, select all areas outside of the characters' parameters, invert the selection, then flood fill the area with a neutral grey color. Then draw in the primary colors around the respective characters and then mask the layer down.

• Detail Color

  Layers Used:

  Foreground Folder -> 1st Character Folder* -> Detail Colors Folder -> (Folder's color layers)

  Foreground Folder -> 2nd Character Folder* -> Detail Colors Folder -> (Folder's color layers)

  Draw in the other color details for each character.

• Final Check/Final Result

  Layers Used:

  Canvas Background layer

  Background Pattern layer

  Foreground Folder -> Misc Details layer

  Foreground Folder -> Misc Color layer

  (Various layers)

  Finally, whiten the canvas background, add in a simple pattern over the white background, and add in the extra little details. Then check over the drawing for errors and any missing details.

And complete!
