Canvas Prep/Rough Sketch
As always, I start off with a neutral color like grey for the canvas background color. Then in the rough sketch layer, I sketch up basic shapes and the pose.
Fine Sketch
After the roughs are done, I sketch in finer detail of sketching over it in the fine sketch layer.
Lineart
After the sketch was to my liking, I drew in the linearts over the sketch in the lineart layer. If you done majority of your edits in the sketch phase, then you won't have to worry much about editing in this phase.
Base Color
Select areas outside the perimeters of the character with the contiguous (wizard) tool, invert the selection, then fill in the area with the character's primary color in the base/primary color layer.
You select those areas then invert the selection so to have less gaps in your base color due to the cracks and corners inside your linearts.
Detail Colors
After you got your base color, simply add the detail colors in the color layers for the character. Then mask them down to the base color.
Add in some floor shading and a simple background pattern. And then the pic is completed!
Animation of Step-by-Step Progress
Thank you for follow this simple process and enjoy the drawing!
