Und ja, ich kann. I learned German while in Germany. It's not perfect (or even very good) but I was taking care of children so I had to learn kinder-deutsch. I still keep in touch with the family, the children are now 16-18 and my guest father passed away in July from cancer😥.
It was a bit of a kick to the ol heart, all I could do was send flowers😕 I'm in Canada's jutting Ontario fallice surrounded by Great lakes, about an hour south.
Been there (sleeping at a transport hub for an early morning trek instead of paying another night of hostel I presume)
Luckily airports are open all night, turns out train stations aren't. Had a 6:30 am train to catch from Milan central to the airport, at midnight I was kicked out for closing, spent all night on the sidewalk out front with some strangers who were smoking something (presumably opiates) off of tinfoil.
