in #art7 years ago (edited)

Howdy Steemerts!

Today I'd like to share with you an old painting I did..
I rarely get to paint / draw dragons.. Should change that! :)

Here is the line work and final painting.

It is great. I also like dragons a lot, but lately they are everywhere because of the Coming Winter and all that... anyway, yours is very majestic. Your fantasy paintings are excellent!

If I may make a suggestion, you might want to put a small part of the main picture in the start of a post. In this way, the thumbnail in other people's feeds will be of the main picture, instead of a sketch like in this post. Unless, of course, you intend to have the sketch as a thumbnail.

Thank you very much! :)

This is indeed a smart idea haha! :D
i'll do it :D Thanks!

That is really cool. I love dragons ever since I read and fell in love with the Eragon Series books, or if you know it by its official name The Inheritance Cycle by author Christopher Paolini. I want to get a dragon tattoo of some sort one day. Great drawing I love the eyes and the whole scene in general. Steem on!

Yes, Eragon was a good read. My personal favorite and the reason I like dragons in art since then, is Tim Hildebrandt, a great fantasy artist -- you should check him out, some of his works are classics now.

I will most certainly check it out! Thanks for the recommendation I love dragons and anything fantasy :)

I love it, I don't know which one I love the most, as even the line work can be consider a final work on itself, because of the texture of the paper... Looks like and old book about dragons that the main character of a possible story has found in an old grave... Congratulations for the great job!

PS: Is the painting digital or you did it by hand?

Thank you so much Catherine! It is painted digitally by hand! ^^

Oh you mean with a graphic tablet? Is it difficult? I still don't dare to make the leap haha, I find photoshop difficult to understand. Gimp looks easier besides is free hehe
Which program do you use? when I begin with digital drawing can I tag you so you can tell me what you think and give me advice to be able to improve? :D

Hey Catherine, yes I use a Wacom tablet and photoshop.
Photoshop seems a bit daunting perhaps, but I personally just use the brush tool. I know next to nothing about the program, so for me it is just a way to digitally paint with ( oils/acrylics).

I'm always willing to help if i can be useful. Do know there are tons of tutorials and books and articles out there that can help you do something cool!
Just practice alot and you'll be fine! :D

Thank you for your advice! Some tutorials that I saw about that topic tended to be boring or unclear. Maybe I just have to keep searching.

I will absolutely practice! :D thank you

Reminds me of smaug from the hobbit - really well done!

Dragons are coming back in the limelight and the main reason might be game of thrones! This painting is really awesome and you are really talented!

hehe they seem to yeah! This was painted quite a long time ago though! I think even before I was into GOT :O

Wow when I grow up I want to be like your ;)

Wow, both Drawing and painting are awesome. Love this...

Insane! That line work is so tasty
