The Conscious Artist - #1 What else is possible?

in #art7 years ago

Hi, my name is Anne Clarke and am an Access Consciousness Bars® Facilitator.
I have an explanation and videos about the Access Bars® in my post...

SO WHAT ARE THE ACCESS BARS® AND WHY WOULD YOU WANT THEM RUN?

Access Consciousness is a set of tools and questions that facilitate change in any area of your life that is not working for you. As a result, many specialists have taken the tools of Access to their specialty, for example, Marilyn Bradford (https://tinyurl.com/ya2vfha2), who is a practicing psychotherapist who applied the tools of Access to addiction and wrote the book 'Right Recovery For You'. (https://tinyurl.com/yc943yce). Marilyn went on to develop a program incorporating her expertise and the tools of Access. There are many such specialty classes.

The Access Bars® are 32 points on your head which, when gently touched, effortlessly and easily release all the unwanted thoughts, ideas, beliefs, emotions, which are limiting you.

Gary Douglas (https://tinyurl.com/yaja55x6) is the founder of Access Consciousness and his first love is horses, I had the pleasure of attending his 'Conscious Horse Conscious Rider Class in Denton Texas'. When I returned to Scotland I met and made friends with Fiona Preston who owns a yard locally and was willing for me to work with her horses using the Access tools. She then became interested in what I was doing and I ran her Bars®, 'Bars® at the yard' is now a thing 😊

Fiona then introduced me to Charlie Fitzgerald (https://tinyurl.com/yc2r4l7e) who owns one of the horses at the yard and a pony that I had falling in love with. Charlie is an amazing horse woman, an amazing artist and one of the directors of MC3 CREATIVE SPACE (http://www.macthree.org) an artist studio in Elgin.

Charlie and I spoke about my giving a talk at the MC3 studios to the residents who are in their final year at the Moray School of Art. I said yes straight away to giving the talk which was to be on the Access tools and how they might apply to their work. Having agreed, I then wondered if it was a wise choice, after all who was I to be speaking with Artists?

On the evening of the talk I met with Rachel Horsburgh (http://morvenmacewan.bigcartel.com) the other director at the studio and a number of the other artists who use the space and any doubts I had about giving the talk quickly dissipated.

After a brief introduction we were off and covered everything from self doubt, creative blocks, depression, existential angst, family support of their creative endeavours (or the lack of) and how and who gets to decide how they price their work. Many of them struggled with the structure of learning at the art college and it was truly heartbreaking to hear that more then one of them had been told they could not draw! Charlie who's work is shipped Internationally was one of them.

It's staggering to me how buying someone 's point of view as real or true can stick us so badly and if we let it , limit us from choosing what actually works for us and creating something different.

I realised that the Access tools, and 'empowering people to know that they know' works for any individual or group of people looking for change. Having previously worked in a couple of Art galleries it was so much fun for me to interact and be with this group of creatives, hear how their process works and what they felt were their biggest obstacles and challenges.

My first introduction talk on the 'Conscious Artist' at MC3

On the night it was deemed that I be the 'Facilitator in Residence' at the studio we laughed a lot and I knew I wanted to work more with this group.

About six months later and last Sunday, I had my second gathering at MC3 studios. Three of the artists Charlie, Rachel and Alannah Spence agreed to a collaborative project whereby I come and run their Bars, interview them individually and over time see what if any difference having their Bars® run creates for them.

So I brought one of my massage tables to the studio last Sunday and I ran Bars for the afternoon, it was a pure Joy.

One of the things you realise as a Bars Practitioner is that every session is different and even for the same client no two sessions are ever the same. When I am running someone's Bars I have no agenda the is no fixing to be done, in fact, the tagline for a Bars session is that 'worst case scenario you feel like you had a great message and best case your whole life changes'. (Which is what occurred for me)

I also had the pleasure of having the addition of Milo the studio Kitten and Wookie Charlie's dog join in the session. Animals really enjoy Bars sessions so far I have had Cats, Dogs, and horses in attendance 😊

Last Sunday was the first step in what I hope to be an ongoing project, over the coming weeks I have set up interviews with these three about their work we have also arranged that I will run their Bars again and have them report back.

My first interview will be with Alannah who mentioned during her session that her dissertation for her final exam was on consciousness and her work, she has promised to send me a copy.

Alannah and some of her work:

Then I will interview the two directors of the space about their work and the vision for the space and what it is they have created and changed in a very small amount of time.

I am very grateful to Fiona for introducing me to Charlie, I also ended up buying the pony I fell in love with from her and grateful to Charlie for her invitation to work with this magic group of people.

What are the infinite possibilities I wonder and how much fun can we have?
Watch this space!

Can you believe this woman was told she couldn't draw?!

What lie have you been told that if you let go of it could help create the future you desire?

For now,
Anne

What a fascinating story. When you first said, " who was I to be speaking with Artists?", I actually laughed out loud. We artists are full of blockages...as you went on to discover. So many insecurities latch onto us in those early years that have a way of holding on. The work you are doing with this group will be interesting to follow.

Upvoted & resteemed!

@samanthajbarnes Thank you! It has been such a joy and it came from following the energy of what would be fun for me? 😊 Alannah was featured in the local press a couple of days after having her Bars® Run and we are all eager to see what else is possible with this project.
What helped you shake off those insecurities?
Thank you again for the feedback!
For now,
Anne

Going with the flow takes you to some very interesting places I have recently found.

Some of those insecurities are still there but I found the courage to keep putting myself out there in different ways. It took the longest time just to be able to say out loud that I am a artist without feeling like a fraud. Little steps here and there after that have gained me some momentum. I have done some energy work in the last year which as been so revealing. I have basically been able to lighten up, not care about what other people think (which is usually much less than I imagine) and just do what makes me happy. The rest is falling into place...whatever that means...it's new everyday.

@samanthajbarnes
This is my last computer activity of the night.
I will close it with a smile of my face 😊 as two of my favourite questions are..
What if I am not wrong?
And what can I choose now that I haven't been willing or able to choose before?
Keep on choosing what works for you!
For now,
Anne

Dang, Girl! I ask myself...what if I'm not wrong? all the time! AND, I have been working on your second question as far as my thoughts are concerned in a focused manner for a couple of months now. Looks like we might be kindred spirits!

You too! Sleep well!
