3D Printing - Steemit - 3D pen - Gifs + photos + video of how I created the letters

in #art8 years ago

A 3D printer might not be in everyones budget, but a 3D pen is affordable. Sure the results can't be compared but it's a start if you want to create something.

Today I made the letters from the Steemit word.

Supplies:

  • 3D pen
  • ABS filament, 1.75 mm diameter, black

First step was to print the Steemit word, so I can have a reference.

I made two sets of letters then I joined them together.

I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know what do you think? Have you ever used a 3d pen?

Check out how I made the Steemit logo with a 3d pen or a butterfly .

Or if you like pyrography check out this mini kitchen blackboard I decorated.

Until next time stay creative!

Now I want a 3D pen....
Looks amazing!

They're not that expensive!Thanks!

In that case.... Imma go online shopping!

Can't wait to see what you make :)

Nice work, have you tried using PLA filament instead of ABS. It might be a bit easier to work with using a 3D printing pen (less contraction when it cools down), not to mention being safer for your health when working with it.

I have tried, I know it's a better option, it's biodegradable , but the filament melts way quicker and it's harder to control. I'm not sure if that makes sense.

PLA usually needs a bit lower temperature to melt than ABS, also it remains softer at a lower temperature. Dees the pen have regulator for the temperature? If it does not you may look for PLA filament that needs higher melting temperature, something like 230 degrees Celsius.

The fumes when you heat ABS to melt it are not considered very safe for your health, so it is recommended to work with ABS in a well-ventilated area and not to breathe in a lot of fumes. A solution to both the melting problem and the one with the fumes could be to use a fan moving the air faster and helping cool down the filament at your workspace. Don't have much of experience with 3D printing pens, unlike with 3D printers, but you can try to see if that may help.

Thank you for the information. My pen does not have a temperature regulator; I might have to upgrade, because I would love to use PLA; Until then the fan seems like a good option.

Let me know if it does help after you try it.

Technology as this one almost fascinates me as much as seeing people whoring themelves through it.

Nice work with the 3d pen. I like the original GIFS you made!

I'm glad you like them.Thank you!

I've used one before and they are really cool! its hard to get the hang of it because there is no eraser!! but can be really fun and creative with one of these 3d doodlers

I know. The first attempts it was hard to handle. But then I ended up doing this deer

3d pen in work, creative

That's pretty cool looking!

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Nice, one of my friends just bought a 3D plastic printer and is getting started with some great ideas. I have never even heard of a 3D pen until now, so thanks for that too. Looks fun and I'd like to try!

I wish I had a 3d printer. I'm into 3d modelling so I could make my own objects. I'm not sure if I could wait the time to get it printed. Thank you!

That's cool didn't know you can do that!

With patience :) you can do it!

That's just too cool! I can't wait to see what you're able to do with a full on 3d printer :)

Well I'm not sure I will buy one pretty soon. Plus it will take a lot longer to 3d print the objects than with a 3d pen. Thank you!
