Little white butterfly bronze sculpture ( EN/FR )

in #art7 years ago

This work is just a butterfly, a little butterfly.
however it still measures about 50cm large.
I've just done it to clean my mind after a big work , Babel tower i'll show later.
It's a test on insects. I've already done three and I wanted to see the appearance of a butterfly with filigree.
I'm not sure it's the best subject i've done.
The difficulty in this piece is the weight of the wings. The paws are very thin and the problem number one is the gravity...The rest is not difficult, wings are flat and no volume to reproduce. however something troubles me and I find the result a little tasteless. What do you think? There is no contrast between the futility of ornamentation and the subject which is itself light. Usually I choose subjects that come in opposition to the decor. More, for reasons of weight the wings are very openwork and I am accustomed to make pieces more provided.

Fantastic! What do you mean by "futility of ornamentation"?

By opposition to serious. Ornementation is from the side of superficiality. Butterfly too, there is no contrast between the two. I find that with skulls the result is better, more strong.

I see. If it was a monarch butterfly, then it would be another thing altogether; extinction, environmental collapse and all that. Pretty serious.

Yes , meaning of the piece. But i was telling about the first look at the work. And it's just my own feeling .

Beautiful, like all of your work. I think you did great in every aspect. To me it looks well balanced with elements of lightness and others more dense.

Thanks for your words and the resteem ;-)
