Lake Pavilion
Commissioned by an architect, Daoust Lestage worked with the client to create a unique structure that can accommodate guests and integrate effectively into the beautiful surrounding landscape.
Its four sides being entirely glazed, the structure of the house seems almost camouflaged in the landscape during the day, thanks to surfaces reflecting the surrounding vegetation and blurring the borders between natural and artificial. The floor and ceiling of the glass roof are made from thin slabs of pale stone. The house is raised above the ground and seems to float. Despite the spatial restrictions, the house includes two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, a utility area and a basement. Sustainability was fundamental in the design of the Lake Lodge. Triple glazing has been used to reduce energy consumption. The natural features of the landscape have been left intact and special measures have been taken to minimize the potential impact, by designing the flat roof as a bed of plants to further immerse the architecture in the landscape.
