Spring 2019 - Mid Season List [Part 2/4]
I already did the introduction for this one last time so I will be skipping it today. If you’d like to see the previous one you can check it out here Spring 2019 Mid Season List - Part 1
Okay let’s do this!
Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san (The Helpful Fox Senko-san)
Genres: Comedy, Romance, Supernatural
Studio: Doga Kobo
Boys only want one thing and it’s fuckin’ adorable. Yes, an 800 year-old loli fox girl that will pamper you to your heart’s content is all that we need, no scratch that, make that a double serving and that will be the ultimate delight.
I have been seeing the manga for this one on a page I follow long before the season started so I am more or less already on the look out for it and it seems like I made the right decision. I am basically always on the look out for laid back shows like this where nothing much really happens. It is just an ordinary day for an ordinary person living with an extraordinary girl type of show, they do nothing more than just do cute and adorable stunts like tail fluffing, head patting and more tail fluffing which I am never getting tired of anytime soon. This is one of those shows that caters to a very specific audience, self insert weebs, hey don’t look at me like that. But jokes aside this one is really a very relaxing/ calming show and a really good show to watch before going to sleep, specially when the Super Senko-san Time takes over in the last minute and the show will wrap up with a good night from the 800 year-old loli fox girl herself, talk about giving the ultimate fan service.
Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu (Hitori Bocchi's ○○ Lifestyle)
Genres: Slice of Life, Comedy, School, Shounen
Back to back cuteness is not good for the heart but it is a risk I am willing to take. A season without a CGDCT show is no anime season at all or so I say but after last season’s Wataten! ended I am in a serious need of a show to take its place and this one fits the bill just right.
This show is about a socially awkward girl named Bocchi that got unfriended by her best and only friend, but that was done with good intention and her well being in mind. Bocchi is the type that can’t get out of her comfort zone so her best friend decided to unfriend her and left her a challenge, that is, to befriend all of her classmates in her new school. Only by accomplishing the challenge will she become her friend again or is that how it goes? Well the plot doesn’t matter that much on a Slice of Life show like this one in the first place so I guess I could have dispensed with the plot summary. I am all here for the fluff, the interactions and meme fuels, yes there’s a lot of meme-able moments every now and then but my procrastination is always kicking off so I was never able to make any as of writing.
Nothing much I could add here it is just like any other show falling in the same category but I am a sucker for shows like this and that is all there is to it. Really, it is like addiction at this point lol.
Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai (We Never Learn)
Genres: Harem, Comedy, Romance, School, Shounen
Studio: Silver, Arvo Animation
The Quintessential Quintuplets minus the Quints. People have been on a little bit of frenzy earlier because this show somewhat resembles previous season’s Waifu War Simulator. There’s a dirt poor guy with above par academic record, he became the tutor of sizzling Waifus because they are dumb (though in this case the guy is tutoring geniuses that only excels in their own field of expertise but screws up on the field of their choice) and by tutoring them they become more and more intimate until the girls fall for the guy and thus a new war breaks out. However, according to some manga scholars and experts, though The Quintessential Quintuplets’ anime aired first, the manga for Bokuben was serialized prior to the former thus invalidating the claim that the latter is a copy of the former. I guess no one is really interested about that bit of information anyway but in case you guys just want to be extra picky and whinny about things then that’s the defense for the similarity of these two titles, its a just a coincidence, get over it.
I have already more or less gave out the plot summary above and I don’t think there’s much else to discuss, it is a harem show where every girl that the MC will encounter has 99% chance to fall for him is the long and short of it. However, the more entertaining part of it is to see how the audience takes a camp and start to wave their banner of who the best grill is supposed to be. Is it the ditzy princess type? The killer knockers tsundere loli? The deliciously tanned choco childhood friend (sadly, this one looks like it is doomed to fail)? Or is it Sensei all along? I am a civilized man so I don’t engage on unfruitful labor like fighting over who the best grill is, but anyone who are not in the Sensei ship, what is wrong with you guys?
Ah that went by in a flash, I am in a trance whenever I talk about my bias shows because I don’t have any other place to talk about them since my friends mostly want badass and mystery shows so I have a hard time bringing them up. Anyway that’s all from me this week, well then, see you again next time.
