Nature #9 : The spectacular exodus in the animal kingdom

in #animals7 years ago

Many animals in the world cross thousands of miles to migrate for the purpose of finding food, avoiding harsh weather or breeding.

Salmon: Salmon is one of the most impressive migratory species, with a journey of up to 3,800 km. The salmon's life cycle begins with being born in fresh water, then Emigrating to the sea. They live in salt water for about 4 years, then move back to the waters where they were born to lay their eggs. After spawning, the salmon will die. The hatching eggs, and the salmon, continue to cycle with new spectacular itineraries. Photo: Netdna-ssl.com.

Monarch Butterflies : In August every year, billions of Monarch butterflies originating in North America will make their way south to California and Mexico, returning to Canada in the summer. Total distance of 4,800 km, lasts for several months and takes 3-4 new butterflies to complete the trip. According to scientific research, the butterfly king senses the magnetic field of the Earth to follow his path. Photo: Cbsnews1.

Reindeer: The migration of reindeer to the south aims to find food and avoid cold. They will spend the summer in the vast grasslands. Weekly fortune-forming large herds up to 50,000, moving about 70 km in one day. Total distance to 5,000 km. Photo: Kennan Ward Photography.

Calidris Pusilla: This is a very small seabird that is capable of flying far away. In winter, the birds migrate to the southern United States from Canada. They often fly in large flocks of up to thousands and will return to their departure in mid-May. Photo: Lukas Musher.

Cornflake: The migration of the dragonfly is considered the largest and longest in the insect world. Distance up to 17,000 km. There are 5,200 different dragonflies in the world, 50 of which migrate south in winter. Photo: Sciencemag.org.

Leatherbacks: Leatherbacks or leatherback turtles are the largest of the sea turtles. Unlike other turtles, they have a soft outer shell, which is characteristic for migratory behavior. The leatherback turtles will cross the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean, crossing the 20,000-kilometer-long distance to find food. Photo: Thankyouocean / Youtube.

Northern Lighthouse : Northern Lighthouse, which lives on the coast of California, is the second largest migratory species among mammals, with a mileage of 21,000 km per year. Like other migratory animals, northern lovers also use magnetic fields to get their way exactly. Photo: Ocean Today.

Humpback whale: Humpback whale has the longest migration time among mammals. They swim 22,000 km per year, spend the summer near polar and eat small fish. At the beginning of winter they travel to the equator. Photo: A kamaihd.net.

Sooty albatross: This is the titleholder species migratory birds second longest in the world, with 65,000 km distances each year. In the summer, these birds live and breed in New Zealand. At the beginning of winter, they migrate to the Pacific to look for food. It takes about 200 days for soymilk to complete its journey of migration. Photo: Nzbirdsonline.org.nz.

Arctic bird: Although small in weight, only 113 grams but Arctic leisure birds are the longest migratory species in the world. The migration begins in September every year, from the North Pole to the Antarctic and flies back. Total length of 71,000 km. Therefore, this bird sees more daylight than any other creature on earth, also sees two summers each year. Photo: Nzbirdsonline.org.nz.

Very nice post! Well put together. I used to live on the Big Island of Hawaii and the opportunity to see the humpbacks was enormous, much like the animal. I used to sit on the cliffs in the morning at sunrise and hear their songs. It is really quite magical. Thanks for the great post.

Peace,
