Nature #5: The interesting places on Earth are still unknown to humans

in #nature7 years ago (edited)

You may think that with the development of science and technology, there is no place on earth yet. However, the truth is that many places remain unknown.

Mount Gangkhar Puensum, Bhutan: The 40th highest mountain in the world is located on the Bhutanese border and no one has successfully conquered. The mountain environment is harsh, cold and windy, with a steep hill leading up to the top. Since 1987, the Bhutanese government has issued a ban on climbing Gangkhar Puensum for spiritual reasons. Mariana Trench, Pacific: The Mariana Trench is the deepest spot on the planet (11,034 m). If you put Everest at the bottom of the ditch, the mountain is still more than 1,600 m above the water. Photo: National Geographic.

The deepest point in the Mariana trench was discovered by the HMS Challenger II in 1951. Some images of the freak creatures here have been recorded. However, most of the trenches have yet to be discovered and no one knows what is underneath it. Photo: NPR.

Oodaaq Island, Greenland: Oodaaq is one of six hidden escape islands off Greenland. In 1978, a geological convoy flew over Kaffeklubben and found a narrow strip of sea at sea. However, to date there is no clear evidence of the existence of the island apart from some blurry photographs. Photo: Grunge.

Machapuchare, Nepal: Located in the Annapurna Himalayas, Machapurchare (also known as "Fishtail Mountain") is the sacred mountain of Nepal. No one has conquered the mountain, and the Nepalese government has banned people from climbing. However, the foot of the mountain still has many things to explore. Machapurchare is probably one of the last pristine mountains of the Himalayas. Photo: GlobeTrotter / Flickr.

The Northern Mountain Forest Complex, Myanmar: Hkakabo Razi National Park and Hponkan Razi Reserve form Myanmar's vast northern mountain forest complex. Only 1.4% of this area is affected by humans. This complex has not been explored by scientists or the climbing community. The flora and fauna of the area is still unknown. Photo: WCS.

Underwater , Arctic: Discovered in 1973, over 400 ice cubes in the Arctic sea ice made the scientists overwhelmed. Most of these lakes have not been explored. At the same time, researchers have yet to understand the complex ecosystem in the lake. Photo: Grunge.

Amazon Forest, South America: Spreading on an area of 6.7 million square kilometers, this is the largest forest in the planet, with its complexity and diversity, which is difficult to match. This forest contains at least 10% of the species on Earth. However, no one knows what the secrets of the Amazon Jungle are, because most of the forest is not explored. Scientists believe that there are many species of plants and animals living deep in the forest. Photo: NDnet.
