Howler Monkey Moment

A loud crashing in the treetops earlier called my attention to a group of howler monkeys on the move. They paused close by for a few minutes and I managed to capture a couple of nice shots. A mother and baby were close by but too hidden in the dense tangle of vines that hang through all the trees in the jungle, to get a clear shot of her and the baby who climbed crazily running all over her body while she stopped to try and rest. You can just make out the lighter color of the babies tail in the middle of her belly.

It may be just my human imagination but there always seems to be a look of melancholy in the faces of the howler monkeys.

            I agree - as with a number of animals , they have the means to be deadly but choose mostly a quiet life unless they have to defend themselves or their families. Thanks for such a thoughtful comment xx
