Is BTC the AOL of the crypto market?

For anyone who actually uses Bitcoin. They know it has several issues. My main issue is its how long it takes to process anything. It took me hours to move money from bittrex to coinbase. Another major problem is obviously privacy. And the list goes on. As the race continues we see several alts. Which have provided solutions for many of BTCs inherit issues. Are we seeing a similar pattern as the internet bloom. Everyone is fighting for positions while Bitcoin was the sacrificial lamb. Getting our foot in the door so to speak.
