Join Steemit and make boatloads of money or something else?

I am little concerned about the type of content creators we are encouraging to join Steemit and suggest we do not focus so much on the money aspect of things. I think it would be more appropriate to talk more about steem power and the ability to get your important content more visibility with it. Not everyone on Facebook is or wants to be a content creator, but they would like to participate in discussions. It would be nice to encourage people to join and contribute to discussions as well as interact more with content creators.
What type of people would you like to see more of on Steemit?
I enjoy reading real, well thought out posts made by real people - things that add value to the Steem platform!

SteemIt isn't perfect, and I definitely can understand irritation at people gaming the system, but SteemIt seems to be more about content. It's crypto, it's blogging, it's social media - all are new, voluntile, and don't come with a canon. I do agree that not all SteemIt users will be good content creators, but there is already a place for discussion participants - curation - and I'm glad it is rewarded.
No social media platform is perfect and they all are mostly just a waste of time, it just depends on how much of your time you have to waste.
The problem is that Steemit isn't advertised as 'more'. We simply get Facebookers thinking they can just share the same stuff they shared on Facebook and get payed for it here on Steemit, the magical social media site that pays. We don't advertise right towards the blogging community.
When I started on SteemIt, I never had that impression, but I was blogging actively on Blogger at the time, so that was my intent - to blog. I wish I remembered how I found out about SteemIt, because that most likely colored my view from the getgo.

Right now i wanna see more people which are investing their steem into steem power and help others to grow :P
If everyone just purchased steem power the price of steem would be through the roof. That would be a very good thing if that ever happened.
I completely agree with you. I've said it a few times in the past: Advertising Steemit as a money making platform "By doing the same thing you do on Facebook" is such a bad thing for the community. I'd love to get some serious bloggers in who do it to share quality content and have good talks, instead of these Facebookers who want a few quick bucks.
When its advertised that way they get frustrated when they do not become rich overnight and abandon it anyways. Its not a good long term way to maintain active users, sure you may get them to sign up but you wont keep them in any capacity. I try to focus on the key features that help Steemit stand on its own without the allure of riches.

There are a lot of things that are required to be a good "Content Creator", here is an amazing community that helps in every step and the idea is to join the road, creating interesting posts with personal thoughts, commenting meaningful things, getting involved in things you share with someone else..
