A tour to the Summer Capital of the Philippines, Baguio City
Baguio City is the summer capital of the Philippines. It is located at the mountains of cordillera region, northern part of Luzon in the province of Benguet. It will take you about 4 to 6 hrs of bus travel time from Manila. One of the famous gate aways of both tourist and locals because of its various attractions. Because of thousands of feet above sea level, it is cooler than most of the areas in our country. It is also famous for its pine trees and strawberries.
In this post, let me introduce and tour you in some of the tourist spot that we went during our trip last summer in Baguio City. First of all, is the Lion's head. It is the first tourist spot before you reach the main city of Baguio. A 40 feet man made statue of a lion's head located at kennon road ( a long stretch of zig zag road). It is made of limestone carved by an Ifugao. You can take photos here as your souveneir.
Mines View Park is one of the most visited park in Baguio. You should not missed this park when visiting this city. At the entrance of this park are stalls selling "pasalubong" for your loves ones. Strawberry jams, ube jams and peanut brittle are their best seller. You will have a chance to dressed an ifugao attire. You can take pictures with the dogs and a chance to ride a horse. There is a deck in this park where you has a perfect view of mountains surrounding the city.

Burnham park is one of the most famous park in the Philippines. It was said to be named after Mr. Burnham who was the architect and designer of this park. It is one of the most visited places in Baguio. You can find a lot of pine tree in this park. Biking and rowing boats are some of the activities you can try in this park.
Botanical Garden. When visiting this place, groups of Igorot dreesed in their native attire will welcome you. You can strike a pose and take pictures as souvenirs at the entrance with these Igorot but of course with a fee. Unluckily, we missed the opportunity to tour inside this garden because of bad weather.
Strawberry Farm. A farm with a lot of fresh strawberries. It is also surrounded with stalls where you can buy fresh vegetables at a cheaper price, souveneirs and many more.
Strawberry ice cream is a must try.
Grotto. The Lourdes Grotto is located in a hill part of Baguio. You must take 252 steps to reach the shrine. At the top, there are vendors of candle you can light up and pray for your personal intentions. It has also a view of the city.
These are some places we went during our trip last summer. We missed a lot of tourist spot because of bad weather.
