Motivation

in #addiction7 years ago (edited)

Getting motivated is something I have to actively do every morning.

I woke up this morning to the sweet soft sounds of

my puppy Wallace

heaving.

He threw up on the bed.

He threw up on the bed because he thinks every toy I give him is edible! So I had to toss out almost all of them because I deemed them to be unsafe. Looks like I'll have to shopping for him today because I tossed out all but one.

That aside,

I woke up feeling like my eyes were glued shut and a car was weighing me down. If Omar hadn't brought me a caffeine pill, I'd never have left the bed. I'm not even that tired. I simply have to work to motivate myself every morning. I have to work up the motivation to crack the seal between my eye lids and shove off the weight of the car. I have to work up the motivation to go prepare breakfast, even though I'm so hungry I feel like I could puke. You'd think that was motivation enough, but you would be mistaken.

So to serve as motivation, I like to reminisce about the times that I was at my healthiest.

It helps to know that I have been there before, and I did it myself.

If I did it before, I can do it again.

There she is. The prime picture of health: Elle Marie. That's me. ;)

Of course, there's always room for improvement.

Even then, I saw room for improvement. Health is not an ultimate goal, it is the dedication to a way of life.

Given my recent struggle with dropping the alcohol, though, I have been set back quite a bit.

Today makes the eleventh day that I have abstained from drinking.

So I'm back on the uphill trail.

May the climb continue indefinitely.

You are very beautiful!

Yes, thank you!
They say "beauty is pain" but it is also a whole lot of work. lol

Very Cool Im trying Intermitted Fasting (just eating once a day) the more I learn about the health benefits of fasting the more I like it.. I'm currently like 25 pounds over weight..

That's incredible! I can't even go four hours without eating. The hunger makes me throw up. Trying to drown the hunger with water doesn't typically work for me, either... it's like a fast track to puking. lol I commend you!

Did you know? Fat isn't actually what makes us fat. Fat is actually a great source of energy and it's what your brain is made of! It's sugars that make us fat, and processed foods. If our body doesn't know what to do with it because it is a foreign material, the body will store it into fat.

What dis? What do? I dunno. Put it away?

Best of luck to you on your goals!

I Am more About increasing the movement then fasting. There are a lot of ways to get healthier, and I Am always affraid that fasting and quiting that will bring back the weight in no time

Guns!! Well done!

I know right?! I was so excited when I developed my first baby guns (at the time the photo was taken).

Somehow, even without working out for almost two years, I retained almost all of the muscle I had gained previously... only now it's soft muscle. Haha!

Hey @ellemarieisme, I am starting a podcast where I interview fellow entrepreneurs. Would you be interested in the appearing on the inaugural episodes?

No thank you. I am anything but an entrepreneur.

nice hand :) hulk power to the people

May each new day bring you strength!

Yes! Thank you!

I've always suffered from multiple illnesses, so becoming strong has been my lifelong goal!

If it makes you feel any better, I am a fool with 4 dogs and it's actually more unusual when one of them isn't throwing up. Having watched Wallace in crypt0's vids, he is cute as heck, maybe the cutest Yorkie (?) I've seen. You chose well, in terms of size, as one of these guys hacked up a squirrel once:

OH MY GOD. GROSS. NO!
A squirrel???? NO! OMG.

I had a rat terrier (he's still living and kicking, but with other family members) who would occasionally eat a pigeon. WHOLE. FEATHERS, BEAK, FEET, and ALL. He was CRAZY. He would become insanely inflamed for like a month, but he never puked.

Wallace was a rescue puppy, so we don't know for sure, but we believe he is a Yorkipoo. ^_^ Half yorkie, half... poodle? Anyway, he's certainly larger than your average yorkie, but yes he is the perfect size. The scary thing is that toys are completely foreign materials that could seriously damage his digestive tract. Poor little guy.

I know what you mean. My dogs are huge chewers. I give them palm fronds from palm trees now. The truth is almost every toy is dangerous somehow. If dog toys were children's toys, 95% of them would be taken off the market. Even the edible ones often can develop extremely sharp edges.

Unfortunately, I guess that means my dogs find something else to chew on from time to time, like our poor squirrel.

Ermergerd. Thanks for that advice, though.

You know, I recently ordered a toy for him online but there was no information as to how big it was... and it turned out to be made for large dogs. It's hilarious watching him struggle to carry it, but he likes it well enough and the best thing is: it's too big for him to destroy. HAH! FOILED!

You might look into Kong or other puzzle-toys. Instead of using their overpriced fillings, just use peanut butter. My havanese dropped from about 14lbs to 10lbs and she's back on a peanut butter treat diet. Lot of calories, but healthy otherwise.

Yeah thanks! I read an article a while back, though, about how some peanut butters contain an ingredient that is harmful to dogs. I'm sorry that I can't provide more information, but I wanted to warn you nonetheless, if you haven't already read about it. Not all peanut butter is made with it.

Yep, you're right, but it's usually not your main brands:

"Krush Nutrition's "Nutty by Nature" xylitol-containing peanut butter. Xylitol, a natural sugar alcohol sweetener popular for its low glycemic index but known to cause hypoglycemia and hepatic necrosis in dogs, is now also found in several specialty peanut and nut butter brands."

Xylitol is the same stuff that's in some chewing gum that is super deadly for dogs.

One nice thing about big dogs is you get more leeway in your parts-per-million on accidental toxins. Those two whits dogs knocked a bottle of chocolate liquer off of a refrigerator and slurped most of it up. Spent a long time stuffing activated charcoal down their throats until they threw it back up.

Omg dogs are insane. I'm glad to hear that they survived that incident, and also that you already know the dangers of the peanut butters. Thank you also for clarifying that for me.

This is a great product too, although I bought a different brand:

https://www.amazon.com/Outward-Hound-Flapper-Interactive-Puzzle/dp/B006ZTTSOE/ref=pd_day0_199_3?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B006ZTTSOE&pd_rd_r=CS7A7KBE0TGT09NV1CD7&pd_rd_w=c2XsG&pd_rd_wg=NNXmG&psc=1&refRID=CS7A7KBE0TGT09NV1CD7

That turns their regular feeding into a toy. It's also healthier, it makes them eat slower, because they have to puzzle the kibble out. That makes them gulp less air while eating and eat slower, which is healthier for digestion and makes them less gassy.

It also, most critically, helps to cut down on vomiting (again, due to the air).

Oh cool! But our little guy is a typical yorkie in that he eats slowly, and tries to play in between bites lol Sometimes he's simply not interested in eating. But maybe that's because of the toy-eating... -_-

It's possible the puzzle bowl would make him more interested in it, since he'd have to sort of earn it.

Yeah I think it definitely could. He is very intelligent and it's easy to see that he gets bored.

As a applied psychologist i see a lot that a change of lifestyle is the push people can use to overcome addictions. Exercise can release endorphins that act as a natural and perfectly healthy high. Incorporating physical exercise as one element in your long-term recovery process can therefore help you to cope.

Thank you for being so open! If you need a listening ear, I am here!

Thank you! Omar and I got ourselves gym memberships last week and we're already getting back into our fitness routines.
