Caterpillars and a walk by the canal. Plus my Actifit step count.
Today has been a super busy day!
It started out with me and Willow (1 year old) watching the local cats and birds do their thing. A cat was sat in a tree while a couple of magpies squawked at it! Two other cats where chilling in the long grass. All of that kept Willow happy for long enough.
Soon after, the postwoman delivered our caterpillars and, once my mum arrived, we opened up the box and found our little tub of tiny caterpillars, 5 of them! I’m not too sure whether my mum was impressed but Tayler and Willow loved them.
After lunch we headed out for a walk to the canal by our house. We’ve walked in the woods there so much but apparently I’d never taken my mum! I guess we always did other things. I found this flower which I haven’t had chance to identify yet but I thought it was cool hanging out of a walk. We saw ducks too.
Not long after we returned home Tayler’s friend arrived, so he had fun showing off his new caterpillars and they played together with dinosaurs for a while.
So that was a brief summary of my day. How was yours?

My day was good, but not sure it was as fun as yours!
Yeah I really need to keep my step count up. Going for a walk outside really helps.

We just raised 4 monarch caterpillars from our yard. Sadly only one made it to full maturity as a butterfly. Nature has sad odds sometimes. Regardless, it was lots of fun for my boy.
We’ve not found any wild caterpillars yet this year.
We have 5 in the jar, we’re hopeful that they all turn to butterflies. Only time will tell!
