#freewrite :: 5 minute freewrite - Prompt: pink collar
"Lets go baby" Jamie called out to her daughter, Iris whose brown eyes were fixated on the shop's window. Jamie walked towards her, wondering what was she staring at. Then, she turned her head towards the direction of Iris' eyes.
There it was, displayed at the window, a beautiful princess dress with a high pink collar, finished tastefully with sparkly rhinestones and lace with a pink bow in the middle, just above the waist. Jamie caught a glimpse of the price tag and knew it was beyond what she could afford right now.
Jamie had just lost her job and now, she needed to ration more than ever, every bit of food, save up every cent she currently have, and pray that she could find another job soon.
As she watched Iris looking longingly at the dress, her heart ached. She wished she could buy her anything she asks for, especially when Iris hardly asks for anything, her sweet, sweet daughter. Iris turned to look at Jamie, took her hand and walked quietly away from the shop, pulling Jamie along.
Jamie has been a single mom since Iris was born five years ago. The journey has been hard but rewarding. "Iris is the best thing that ever happened to me and I hope someday I won't let her down", she thought sadly to herself. Someday.

She’s now a pretty young girl, a teen to be exact and if all goes as nowadays she’ll be not only a precious woman but a wonderful spirit too.
Unfortunately her mother and I divorced some years ago although we’ve found the way to keep our friendship alive and we meet when possible... in fact I will spend some days with them these holidays 🙂
