#needleworkmonday :: Holes fixing day!
It is our Monday Needlework gathering again! Happy #NeedleWorkMonday everyone!
Sorry, these are not the prettiest of projects to share but they made me happy for completing them ๐.
First, I took the simplest, fastest to fix item - a special edition Ikea bag that has one of its edges that has holes. The bag wasn't mine and we borrowed it from a relative. So, I thought, why not fix it before we give it back. Of course, this was mid of last year ๐ณ. You know how it is, don't you? If the mood isn't there, the mood just isn't there, even for the simplest of thing to do. But yesterday, it happened to be a fixing day because the mood was right ๐ and finally, it is done! It was just a simple straight stitch with my faithful and patient sewing machine, across the outer side of the bag along the edge with holes, just enough to close the holes.
Then, came the next simple fix - a simple hole in a pair of pajamas pants. This type of hole is straightforward because we just need to follow the stitches where the hole appears and re-stitch (straight stitch or zigzag stitches would work) it over, following the line of the pants.
Next, was to me, a more challenging fix - random holes on a pair of most comfy and worn out knitted fabric shorts. This is actually a second time fix. The first time, I was lazy and I just pinched the fabric together and sew it to close but other holes appeared.
For this type of holes, we need to do a little patchwork to cover the multiple holes of various sizes, preferably with similar coloured fabric but the closest I had was this greenish coloured fabric.
After the fabric was pinned to the shorts, the bigger holes were zigzag sewn all around the holes and then zigzaged the fabric onto the shorts all around the edges.
And I had another pair of shorts with similar holes which I managed to work on, but if you need to do this, use similar fabric, don't do what I did, i.e. choosing a fabric that stood out after patching ๐.
Okay, in case you are wondering how bad shaped these pair of shorts are, they are the kind of shorts that are really comfy, so worn out but you still love wearing them, in this case, worn at home where funkily patched up holes (i.e. wrong fabric that stands out, zigzag stitches that aren't straight) are okay ๐.
Now that the holes have been patched and fixed, we can use them for a little longer until the next hole appears which would then call for another holes fixing day ๐.
If you love any craft that uses needles, come and join the fun with us here every Monday! You can also join us every other day at #NeedleWork.

The danger and perk of working or staying next to a mall. You get to collect steps while shopping but you have the tendency to burn a hole in your wallet ๐

I am always fixing things and taught my children to mend whenever possible. We often get bargains off the clearance racks just because they have a small tear, easily fixed.
Ah good skills indeed and what a good idea on the clearance racks bargains!

You did it! A mending marathon <3 And all of the fixes are clever and on the pyjama pants I cannot see that you repaired them - wow.
I love that you used differently colored patches to fix the wholes, it looks like a small design element. I found a profile on Instagram with even bolder patches and yarn and this looks better than the unrepaired clothes.
I still have this pile of mending/altering in front of me... sigh... please send some "mood"
Hehe thank you @neumannsalva! Ah I didnโt think of them as design element and now that you mentioned it hmmm. Cool! Hehe. Next time, I will patch them outside instead!
Aah yes, to start is always the challenge but once you start, you wonโt stop until your eyes tire hehe. Sending some mending mood to you.... ๐๐งต๐
Send more โmoodโ please ๐๐๐ I am still lazy ๐ Honestly we spontaneously have better weather, my husband has a day off and my father is stable right now, if not well... but this is nevertheless better than the last weeks. So, we went to the river, visited a neighbor town and went into the park to have a bit of sunshine.

This is an old Watermill which was renovated over and over and produced electricity up to the eighties of the last century. Today it is a listed building. Together with the residence right above it.
You can hike wonderfully alongside the river. And although it looks overcast, it was fairly warm ...
So pretttyyyy! I am imagining cool breeze while walking alongside the river. If it is where I am, Iโll be sweating like crazy walking in our weather. Sending more mending mood to you.... ๐๐งต๐ ๐๐งต๐ ๐๐งต๐

Now I am sweating too.... the weather changed to very hot and humid. I guess it is nice weather for all the plants as it is super green and lush here, but sigh, not good for me. The temperatures donโt drop at night and we have crazy thunderstorms and rain.... nevertheless it stays hot.

Yes it felt really good but there are so many more to mend ๐ฑ๐งต haha. Slowly but surely. Might take another year or so but it will be done! I hope. Hehe. Have a good weekend @vliet! ๐
